I am so confused. I still don't know if I have bart, if lyme is gone, etc. The symptoms I am left with could all be toxic related. I burn, stomach is a mess, have yeast, etc.

LabCorp tests for bart and babs were negative.

I am currently on rifampin & doxy. LLMD gave me a total of 60 days supply. I am in the middle of that and can't tell if it has hit anything or not. I had flu-like symptoms a few days after stopping and restarting, so that is probably a med side effect. I certainly have not improved while on it.

I have only been on abx for 8 months (started 6 weeks after bite), but my body is screaming stop! After I finish my current abx, is it a good idea to stop and try to detox and treat yeast for a month and see where I am at? I caught the bite so early that I think I could be better and dealing with detox issues.

The only thing that scares me is I have not been treated with a cyst buster. Should I try that before detoxing?

I will run all this by my LLMD, but he is usually open to whatever I want to try next.

I even thought about getting a rife machine, just in case, but really don't have the extra money to spend if I don't need it.

I took a break for about 10 days and it really helped me tremendously. I think I detoxed well, and then I started back on abx.

I don't think it would hurt to take a short break.

In my non medical opinion, I think it is important to take abx breaks. If your body is screaming to stop, then stop. you can always go back on. I have been on an 8 month break, and it has been good, but 'I am ready to go back on. obviously talk to llmd and see what he/she has to say, but I say listen to your body!

Breaks can be good. But as Merrygirl says, always discuss it with you LLMD.

I have taken a couple of breaks in almost 2 years of treatment. I took a month break and an almost 3 month break.

Sometimes I think you need to get all the chemicals out of your body to know how you truly feel. That can take a few weeks.

I agree about getting all the chemicals out of your body.

I am just so confused right now...think I may be in the middle of a bad herx. I have been feeling worse all this week.

I plan to try my best to stay on Rifampin and doxy for at least another month to see if they help (if they don't kill me first.) If not, I am all in for an abx break!

When you took breaks, did you feel worse before feeling better? I ask because I took a break at Christmas, and at the end of 2 weeks, I felt I relapsed. I went back on abx. After that, I think I read somewhere that you could feel worse at first because your immune system kicks back in.

I wouldn't say I ever felt worse, but after a week or two I felt better. As soon as the meds got out of my system I would feel better briefly for a few weeks.

Please ask your LLMD about taking a break though. He would know when and if it was a good time to take a break.
