Does your LLMD say it's ok to take with food?
I started out taking with food and 3 weeks later, switched to empty stomach and still cannot tolerate it.
Can I take rifampin & doxy at same time with food?

Our daughter takes Mino and rifampin.
Doctor told us to have her take after Breakfast and Dinner, so on a full stomach.
Hope you feel better.

I started off getting very dizzy and nauseated when I took it on an empty stomach, but later could tolerate it.
Later on, though, when I would take it on an empty stomach, I had HORRIBLE reflux, to the point where it was going up into my nose, and the mucus that came out when I blew my nose was orange.
I wouldn't take Doxy and Rifampin together.

Can I ask why not take Doxy & Rifampin together? I was taking them together for 3 weeks without problems with food. Then, I started taking Rifampin first thing in AM a couple hours before breakfast and nausea is killing me.

I wake up at either 7 or 8 to go to work so Rif is no longer in my guts to make me sick

This is exactly what I have been doing. Hubby wakes up at 3:30 AM for work, so I take Rifampin then and go back to sleep.
I wake up at 6:30 and take doxy and eat.
I have only been sick for the past few days, so maybe it's part of the herx I may be having now. Never had nausea with a herx before, so don't know.

Sleep is important for healing. I would not interrupt it by waking early to take a medicine.
When I was on Rifampin my doctor specifically told me to take it with food to prevent stomach upset. After a few weeks I was able to take it with less food and then on an empty stomach.
I took the full 600mg dose in the late afternoon, before dinner. If I tried to take the dose in the AM on an empty stomach or with food I would still get nauseated and dizzy. You may have to try taking the doses at different times of the day to see what works the best for you.

I took Rifampin on an empty stomach and did get stomach pains for 3 weeks. I think it could have been a herx as I had a lot of GI pain from Bart to start with. After that I could take it full dose in the am with no problems taking it on an empty stomach.
To answer you question Rifampin can lower Doxcy levels so usually it is combined with Zith or Biaxcin for Bart.
