In a thread below titled, "Artemisinin - Need Advice on Starting," a discussion was brought up about drug combinations such as Mepron and Zithromax.

Let's keep that discussion going.

My first trial drug combination is:

Minocycline 100mg (pulsed every other day with...)
Zithromax 600mg (pulsed every other day with Minocycline)

So far, I've seen great improvements in my peripheral sight; visual static field reduction; joint pain, redness and inflammation; overall cognitive thought function; tingling and numbness; and plantar fasciitas pain.

Other side effects resulted in what is likely a Bartonella flare-up for me. Symptoms include: an increase in heart palpitations, chest discomfort, rash & dry skin on knuckles, fingers, and finger webbings, headaches, small red blotches on face, and sometimes moderately-severe mood swings.

Next up for me is Plaquenil starting next week, and/or Bactrim DS or Mepron following.

Share you experiences with drug combinations or your thoughts on mine. Please be detailed if you reply. [Smile]

Thanks!

I'm a little concerned with the rash you are now experiencing and small red blotches on the face.

Mino can cause rash. It is a very common side effect of this drug, in fact, based on Mosby's Medical Drug Reference.

It can also cause exfoliative dermatitis which is a life-threatening side effect. so, keep a close watch on all those skin problems. Don't let it progress without talking to the doc.

Got this from the internet:

Exfoliative dermatitis is widespread scaling of the skin, often with itching (pruritus), skin redness (erythroderma), and hair loss. It may occur in severe cases of many common skin conditions, including eczema, psoriasis, and allergic reactions.

A person with erythroderma or exfoliative dermatitis often needs hospital care or admission to an intensive-care burn unit.

You could look up pictures of it to see what you want to be on the look-out for.

TF is correct. Many of us who took mino got rashes and Lupus like sx's after a while (esp. Erythema Nodosum). Am surprised that it's happening so soon with you and at a 100mg dose. Usually takes longer and higher doses, so do watch it.

Xtu, my result for active Lyme came back negative. My understanding is this current regimen is to treat Babesia.

ping, Yes I am pulsing every other day with Zithromax 600mg.

Thanks for the warnings and concerns, my friends. I looked up the conditions online. It does not resemble Exfoliative Dermatitis. It does however slightly resemble Erythroderma; but I'm not convinced because the splotches are TINY and faint; not very noticeable. I only have a few on my face, really none elsewhere.

However, if they progress, I will certainly be sure to bring up concerns with my doctor and go from there.

The rash on my fingers is more like a dry skin rash. If I put lotion on it, it becomes faint.
