Hi All
I think it is time we do our part in Stamping out Googleusious-
Here is a example of what I mean--
When I am in Malaisa condition -- I have bouts of Encephalopathy-- which brings on Arthralgias from doing repitive motions brought on by Googleousis-
What I just said was--
When I dont feel good I get brain fog and poor memory- and my joints and muscles hurt- from typing in medical search trems-
Which pagagraph was clearer and easier to understand?
I think we will be of much more help to people if posts are written in plain english as much as possiable and have the medical terms in ( ) that you just discribed--
like this-

I couldnt agree more. So many of the post here that someone took the time to search for a give the info to us are useless to me cuz I cant understand a word of them.
Even in plain english its hard for me to put 2 + 2 and come up with anything let alone 4.

Totally agree - there is nothing clever about writing technical terms - especially when no one can understand them!!!!

My sister (with lyme) has the severe "arthritic" form and has not experienced "brain fog" or other cognitive (information processing) problems.
Others on this board and family members of lyme patients who visit this board
need a place to exchange medical knowledge in order to help ALL those effected.
If you are neurologically impaired, simply skip over the posts that you cannot understand.
Meanwhile, I will continue to "Google" - as I try to understand and find the "answer" to this extremely complicated disease.
Long term abx....all of them, did not cure my sis. I want to know WHY and what MIGHT cure her.

I understand both sides. I also understand that if you don't use it you lose it. I find forcing myself to use my brain helps to keep it working.
I keep a medical dictionary handy or look it up on google if I don't know what a term means.
I find it helps to understand scientific articles and even my doctor if I've been exposed to some of the terminology.
Of course I don't want everything I read to be full of scientific jargon but it is important to be able to understand it at least to some degree if I am to understand my illness.

- I find it helpful to have links with complex terms so that I can just click and read more if I choose.
What really hurts my hands is the type out anything . . . so . . .Cutting and pasting links from authors who can explain it better is the best I can do. I do try to always have an easy link so that someone does not have to cut and paste or hunt for a definition.
When using only the terms that lyme patients and LLMDs understand, we can run a risk when talking with others. I find that if I say I have "brain fog" they don't get it. When I say my brain is inflamed or swollen, they begin to understand on a more realistic level. -
