I've been on the IV Rocephin now for two weeks and I feel like I'm starting from scratch again. It's so frustrating and I don't know what to think. I've been treating since July with Orals with really no signigicant improvement UNTIL I got OFF abx. About a month and a half or so ago I stopped all abx for a break and unexpectedly found I improved a lot! My dizziness pretty much went away, weakness resolved, and pain levels got much better. Then on day 5 of IV ROcephin all symptoms returned and I'm still feeling like hell. In a way I regret starting back up. I'm so scared that I won't go back to that good phase I was in.
Why do I feel worse while being on abx that off. I really thought by now if the bacteria was being killed I would be noticing an improvement. I haven't noticed ANY improvement since starting the IV. I'm so upset for the setback.
Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.
I was on IV Rocephin as well for 28 days. It made me feel extremely tired. I thought about going off it early but I am thankful I did not. I did not notice the benefits until after going off. I had some really bad symptoms before going on IV (unable to breath, etc), and they went away with IV.
Everyone reacts different to Rocephin, but I have heard others state that it made them feel weak, and they didn't realize the benefits until after they went off. Others state that it did not help them at all.
Please be careful not to give up to soon. Talk to your LLMD. You may be someone who does benefit from it.

I ALWAYS felt worse on abx!!! It took 1-2 yrs for me to feel any better!!! After one year, I began to have a few good days... and the second year, more good days... then 2 more yrs of treatment.
Hang on.

Yes it could be long drawn out herxes and I had that for years. As well if you have toxins building up and not flowing out as fast as they build up then you can feel worse the whole times treating and no only til you stop the treatment and the body starts detoxing all those things can the body feel better...
SO.. its normal and I do not believe it has anything to do with having lyme or not having lyme .. more so it would though mean you DO Have lyme if I had to choose one of the two : )
