We should be writing to Letterman and Stiller for the misinformation they were spreading. Especially Stiller since his son had lyme.

Letterman said that in California people don't get lyme, that it's an east coast thing and Stiller agreed.

========

To David's credit, although the "only an east coast thing" quote can do some damage, he did caution that ticks can carry several diseases besides lyme.

Stiller was lucky that his son's prompt treatment seemed to clear it right up but seemed unaware that it could have been much worse. As to what is going on with his own knee, it seems too bad the doctors think of him as an "enigma" - that's what they actually said. Even for him, they can't seem to figure out what is going on. Big sigh.

Idiotic. Even the IDSA and CDC say California is one of the most endemic areas.

He needs to not talk about things he knows nothing about. He has said illiterate things about LD in the past. Wish he'd go off the air.

Hey, he is just repeating what some IDSA doctor probably told him. He heard it somewhere else first. The misinformation needs to be stopped at the source (wonder if he remembers where he "learned" that?) and corrected at all points.

Maybe he could get the producers of UNDER OUR SKIN and the author of CURE UNKNOWN as guests on his show.

Here's a good article where he talks about having night sweats too. It sounds like he must have had a positive test as well.

I just got the impression that Stiller is uneducated about Lyme and doesn't realize how significant it can be. Plus he's a comedian so he's going to make some light of it.

For Ben's sake, he's kind of lucky that he had a doctor actually suggest that Lyme disease may be involved.

Give the guy a break.

He's an uninformed as the rest of society. He may have been carrying Lyme for years, and is just opening up the book on what he's getting ready to go through.

There's already a lot of pressure on him as a celebrity, I can't imagine he could find all the time in the world to be on LymeNet with us.

I'm sure if he has a chance to learn more about the disease, he'll spread the word publicly. Ben Stiller is an advocate-type celebrity who does stuff for good causes.

We should e-mail the show, and ask to give Ben more information about Lyme and the struggles.
