I know I've read that testing doesn't seem to mean much but I have a question anyway. I have now had two tests come out positive (according to certain doctors). would it be possible to have 2 false positives over 6 months apart?
I also had a circular rash which ended up abcessing as well as terrible flu like aches and pains when I had the rash 7 months ago (I hurt everywhere so bad I coudln't stand it) which makes me beleive these aren't false positives.
But my pcp refuses to beleive the tests and won't refer me to a specialist for a second opinion (I've gotten names from here when I was tested 7 months ago).
I guess what I'm asking is how are you supposed to read the tests? I have coppies of both of them and I can understand where the pcp is coming from but at the same time I've got other drs saying they are positive. Help Please

I have heard some LLMD's say they are yet to see a false positive.
I would seek a LLMD asap.
The sooner you find it the easier it is to treat-I believe.

You can post your results here. I would not wait any longer for treatment, the longer you go the harder and longer your treatment will be and the more damage is done to your body!!
My primary care physician has just started me on Doxycycline for "suspected" Lyme.
That will hold me over till I can see my LLMD.

On my first test done when I still had the rash my Elisa (sp) was 3.88 and the only bands to come up positive on the Western blot were 41 KD IgG and 41 KD IgM
My most recent test my Elisa was 1.74 with WV reactive bands of 39 KD IgG and 23 KD IgM
Because only one band on each is showing up reactive despite the rash and positive screen and other symptoms my pcp still says negative.
Yet some research I've done says the bands that are positive are significant.

Hi All
The tests are Almost useless -
If the test is done correctly False positive are Almost Impossible to happen -- and even if done Incorrectly a False Positive is still almost Impossible --
In the test - your blood is put on something kind of like a microscope slide--
The slide is divided with small grooves- These are the Bands --
Then electric current is run threw the blood-
Think Frankenstein movie ---
The stuff that the lab is looking for migrates to these bands --
The results are VERY tiny -- hard to see -- that is why they rate the bands as + or ++ the more stuff the see the more the +++
The test is VERY complected and is Easily screwed up --
I have a friend that was a lab tech -- she used to do these tests -
She said that she Never thought about that these tests were for a real person -
So she did not do them carefully as she should-
I kicked her out of my house and did not talk to her for a year --
The tests are very complected and were designed in the late 1940s -
Take my word for it -- A Positive test-- IS Positive --Jay--
