Oh Street, I'm sorry.
Some people, especially doctors just don't get it. They are so arrogant. I would've said something back. I am just too tired of all the suffering sometimes in my life that I am getting more combative. When people pull that...
I remember a few years ago when my hubby came out of outpatient surgery for a kidney stone, I asked his doctor about intercourse in a few days because we were trying and the ovulation cycle was coming up.
He asked me how old I was and how many children I had. Like that is relevant to my husbands care. Then he asked his exact age and said that he could see my urgency with our ages and basically made me feel like I should just gone on with my life and not reproduce.
If that conversation had been now, I would have put him in his place and enjoyed watching him try to regain professional couth. Otherwise I would've pitched a blow back to his next one.
I've had some great lawyer comments too, like "well, you could pay to fix the problem or just pay me". This person even went to my church.
It's not a personal thing you know. It's just their sheer arrogance. ...and your right. Someday their all gonna need a doctor themselves...let's see who the doctor of all doctors gives them.

wow...ickyticky you wasn't there...it didnt happen to you, and if anything happened to you that you do not like and take offense to... please remember what you told me, and your response prove my point.
if a professional said something like that to you, how would you take it...basically it was not nice of him or anyone to say that to another person, period. if two people are friends and they play like that, well that is a different thing.

I'm sorry if my opinion wasn't one you were looking for. Aren't you the one who recently who got all upset about another doctor mentioning your RBC and saying it was normal for black people?
You insinuated that she was racist and needed to be "spanked"? Then I replied saying that you were wrong, and that it's true that black people have different RBC rates..and then you edited your post. Maybe THAT is why I have the opinion I do... that you take things too personally. And now that I just got your PM saying <b>"your just saying that because, your white like him, and you are being racist like him,, the truth hurts... im sorry for you and him">/b> Well... now I KNOW you take things too personally. You are pretty quick to call people racist aren't you? Who is "Tacky" now?
My reply wasn't meant to insult you, although I guess I could have waited until this morning to give a lengthy reply (had a headache last night) I do apologize for that.
Look..I've had friendly doctors and evil doctors. The friendly ones HAVE said such things in playfulness/lightheartedness. People with Lyme, I think, tend to not "catch on" and we 'hear' tones that aren't there and get upset etc. I'm just giving the doctor benefit of the doubt in this case. Hopefully he doesn't earn wrath from God for it. And please don't ever call me racist again.

What street went through is purely arrogant and uncalled for. If a doctor said that to me, you bet I'd take it personally. Street, you have every right to be upset about it.
MOST doctors I've come across have treated me very, VERY badly. It's not just a few here and there. I've been insulted and ridiculed and I've struggled very hard to let it go and be at peace despite the bad memories.
I agree, street, that justice prevails - in God's time and God's way. I have to remember to take the high road on my earth's journey.
God bless.

street129; Are you kidding me? He actually said that to you????
Kidding or not, it is not appropriate for a doctor to say that to his patient - PERIOD.
I think I would have been rendered speechless by that comment. I hope Karma bites him in the ***.

Yeah, that's nonsense.
I am on the same page as you now 2roads.
I fire right back, and they don't know how to take it....SO funny actually.
It's kinda sick, but I get a kick out of seeing them uncomfortable, because they so often make others feel this way.
Drs are JUST people, I guess sometimes they forget that.
I wish society did not stigmatize them in such a ridiculous way, and I think often it's due to the lengthy in depth schooling that is needed to get an MD that leads to their arrogance (case in point, recent comments on the board from someone "in med school")
I have a lot of respect for some Drs, and others, not so much....
Best

Street, that was just so rude of your doctor!
I had a rhuemy say something really stupid and wrong to me a few years ago, before I knew I had LD. She diagnosed me with FM. I wouldn't take her antidepressant that is supposed to help FM(yea right)!
So as she walked out the door, she turned and in a hateful tone she said, "well then you will never get well". Like an antidepressant is going to cure me of severe pain and fatigue and the whole array of symptoms that I had.
I wish I would have known then what I know now. I would have given her a hard time.
Anyway, some docs are just so arrogant, they think they can get away with anything. That was very unprofessional of your doc!

That would have bothered me years ago, but after all the doctors I've seen, I feel pretty comfortable debating my position and stating facts. I treat a doctors visit like I'm reading a dissertation before an entire audience.
Given I've done so much research and had so much experience it's pretty easy for me to quote just about any study that counters their commentary. It's sad if you think about it, but it's my life on the line so I take each appointment very seriously and I treat it like a business transaction. It's not personal (although it should be).
-------------------- I am not a physician, so do your own research to confirm any ideas given and then speak with a health care provider you trust.
