Im wondering if anybody else has had pain under the lower left side of the ribcage while taking mepron or anything to treat babesia?

Is it anything to be concerned about? Should i let my dr. know?

I had the same sort of pain while taking artemisinin as well.

Thanks
Joe

I get that too. When I first asked about it, my LLMD said that it was probably a herx from killing off bugs in that area. That was 2 months ago or so.

However, I'm starting to experience some vague discomfort on my right side too, and my urine has turned orange. I went to see my PCP yesterday and am waiting for a urinalysis and new liver tests. It appears that I'm getting liver damage from something, most likely the Mepron.

I'm quite anxious about this, needless to say. I would hate to have to quit the Mepron, because it's helped me a lot, but I don't want to die of liver failure.

The spleen is on the left side. Babesia affects the spleen. Probably a herx reaction!

I developed that horrible pain while on Bicillin last fall. Now it flares with each herx.

I asked my LLMD about it, I was worried about my spleen, we did an ultra sound it was ok. The ultra sound tech showed me where my spleen is, it is way off to the left side, on the left side really.

My LLMD thinks it is just inflamed cartilage.

I think the hard herxing from Bicillin developed costochondritis. Which sounds pretty close to what my LLMD said.

Here are a couple links about it:

My Mother had that same pain while treating Babs. The Babesia likes to hide out in the spleen in (or attached to) the red blood cells.

The mepron/abx/art, etc hits hard and they all run scared to the spleen and the die off, hence the horrible herx pain begins.

She said it would come and go. Poor woman stopped wearing underwire bras because she thought that was the cause!

Jocus: Do you think it could be YOUR underwire bra causing the discomfort and pain? lol/jk

Seriously, I think it's a normal herx but, of course, as always, I'm not a doctor and if it persists, contact your LLMD asap!

Best,

i have it.

years ago i thought it started from high dose ibuprofen. but i was taking abx too.

it went away for a long time. recently came back much worse. i'm of ibu and abx now.

i can feel (and so can primary) 1" nodule. now there are more than one.

ultrasounds and catscan keep coming back neg.

surgeons say it is in skin-not serious.

it gets worse afer i eat. i wonder if it is realted to yeast...or bowel.

it scares me and i really wish they could figure out what it is. lp

Spleen?

Next time you see your doc, ask to have it palpated to check for swelling, etc. Babs is rough on the spleen; my LLMD warns to be careful with it- no roughhousing, bumping, etc.
