I plan on starting Rifampin today and of course, have medication anxiety..

I guess I'm afraid of being allergic, and most of all a herx. I'm not afraid of pain or flu feelings, but I guess of something terrible happening and if it does, noone can help me.

My doc is 5 hrs away and the er won't be any help either.

I know this is irrational and want to do the right thing and get on the med.

Any advice?

Start slow and work up to your dosage.

This med helped many of our daughters symptoms.

Best of luck, Jane

My doc has me starting at 300 mgs once perday for 15 days and then 2x per day.

I dumped half out of the capsule just for the first day to make sure im not allergic, which doc says is ok to do...

Don't think....Just take it!!!!!! (note: this is my advice in laurisabelle's situation, not all situations)

That's how I do it. I think about it for awhile, get scared. Then I finally, say, "okay, enough is enough. I just gotta do it."

And I just turn of my brain...pop it in my mouth, and swallow. I figure after that point it's too late to go back. I'm not gonna induce vomiting if I get scared again.....so at that point it's over and no more worries. Then once you start, you know you gotta keep going of course with the next dose. Just do it!!!!! You're gonna have to eventually, so no sense putting it off.

Hoosiers, thank you. lol When I start something new, I always get anxious for a few days, obsess over it, then get to the point where I feel so bad NOT taking it that i just take it.

THen for the next hours I wait and feel scared and once nothing happens, i get more and more comfortable.

Once im on the med, i have no issues taking them daily without problems. Its just the first few doses.

What's scares me the most is if something does happen, I feel noone can help me.

Last month I had to take Naproxen which comes with this giant warning but i took that with no problem because i knew if something happened, I can go to the er and they will know how to help me.

But with lyme, that's not an option...

I will just take it though. No more procrastinating..

laurisabelle,

If it's any consulation, I wish my son was on it.

He is on Babs therapy so we cannot combine it without offsetting the Mep. Anyway, bart is taking him down too and it's a good drug to use.

Atleast you have it. Better to have then have not-

Like Hoosiers said, "don't think about it, just take it".

...on to wellness-
