Did you doctor reference that exact study? Or state what amount of EGCG is recommended?
If it does work, determining the exact dosage in people will be the tricky part.
Although the Pure encapsulations product may be fine, per pill it's not an especially large dose of EGCG. You probably could find a similar decaffeinated extract on iHerb much cheaper. Bluebonnet, LEF, AOR, etc, all make extracts with at least 200mg+ EGCG per capsule. You probably could save some money and take less pills using one of them.

I'm taking the Solaray EGCG. It was under $12 if I recall correctly...
I'm also taking Noni juice. I think it's important to use a good one that's organic & from a good source. The brands differ. Still tastes yucky...

Lemon-lyme,
My LLMD said he read the abstract so far, but hasn't read the entire text of the study yet. I don't know it it was the one seibertneurolyme referenced or not.
I can order directly from Pure Encapsulations because I have a professional license, so that saves me alot of money on their brand. I also use some of their other products and I like that they are pure.
He said for me to take 4 caps daily. Each cap contains 100 mg green tea extract, standardized to contain a minimum of 90% catechins, with EGCG, the most powerful catechin, providing a minimum of 70% of the content.
Thanks for the tip about the other brands. I will keep them in mind.
He did mention 5 mg/kg as a way to approximate a dosage.

sparkle,
Have you noticed any effect from the EGCG?
I know it's hard to tell sometimes when we are taking so many supps.

He is probably referencing the same exact study then. I actually posted in that study thread about dosing, and the rodents were given 5-10mg/kg. So a person at 75 kg would then need 375-750mg of EGCG.
That is, assuming metabolism is the same in rodents as it is in people. The 5mg/kg should be safe, but not sure about 10mg/kg.... our livers may cry.

I use a dowsing rod to determine dosage. The Solaray caps are 400mg per 2 caps. It has other ingredients, too. Sometimes I test for it & sometimes I don't.
I'm taking other things - so, it's hard to tell. I'm just going to stick with it & the other herbs I'm taking.
There was a study about noni & babesia, as well. Someone I know who posts here from time to time said the noni really helped.
I'm taking artemesia & resveratrol plus other things. I was taking cryptolepsis but I switched to artemesia.
Nutramedix Quina is good, too. I'm just experimenting & I don't mind doing that. I guess time will tell if it's going to work. I cut everything back because I had a bad cold.
I'm gearing up to start it all again soon.
