Not sure of the difference, prescribed 1 mg. clonapin and my doc said .25 mg. xanax as needed. Shake much when benzo wears out. On iv rocephin, zith and bactrim. I did clonapin years ago and really don't remember. does anyone know how much clonapin would equal xanax? or the other way around. My llmd said I could do both if I needed. Thanks, feel good.

Klonopin has a very long half life and stays in your body for about 1-2 days depending on your metabolism. Xanax is usually prescribed more for anxiety/panic attacks since it is fast acting.
If you shake when it wears out, it could be withdrawals or just rebound anxiety. It depends how long you've been on the medication.
There are conversion charts, but I find it difficult to substitute a long acting benzo with a short acting benzo.
That being said, Xanax and Klonopin conversion ratio is about 1:1. However, Xanax wears off rather quickly. Usually Xanax is prescribed as needed.
do you take 1 mg of klonopin once a day? If you metabolize it quicker than most, you might find that .5 mg 2-3 times a day will keep you feeling more stable. Of course you would want to talk to your doctor before making any changes.

I figured 1 mg. clonapin in the am and .25 xanax as needed. I was taking 1mg xanax xr, but my doc changed it to 1 mg. clonapin and .25 xanax. Felt better this am, then an hour after I took bactrim, weird stuff started again, shaking, then I realized my xanax was taken at 7:00 am, 1mg xr Tomorrow I start the clonapin 1 gr. in the am. Thanks so much.
