Yes, I have another post asking about Elavil expereinces, but I had to post about what happened this afternoon.
I took half of one pill last night at bedtime (LLMD told me to take 2-3 pills) and within a half hour started getting on edge, screaming at the kids, just really panicky-like.
Took a while to get to sleep like usual, and was awake at 4am for a while.
Got up this morning and haven't felt right all day, short of breath, tight chest, weak left side, numbness on left side of my head.
We had to take my son to church for rehearsal this afternoon, and I had a major attack on the way there that I almost went to the ER.
I went into a full-blown panic attack--thought it was a heart attack or pulmonary embolism or something, couldn't breathe, chest hurt like crazy.
Then I got the shakes and light-headedness. If that was a panic attack, it was the worst I have ever experienced.
The worst seems to have passed, but I still feel very unwell. Called the pharmacy, and they told me Elavil is in the same class of drugs as Lexapro, which also caused this type of reaction.
So now I will make sure that ALL antidepressants are on my list of drug allergies!

Oh yeah, duh, I wanted to mention too that my one eyelid is now twitching also--did not happen before this drug.
Also wanted to ask, is it really possible to be having reactions this long after taking one pill?
I'm drinking tons of lemon water now to try to flush it out of my system.

I can't take any antidepressants! I have tried some from different classes. They all make me feel awful. Anxiety and a general ill feeling. I do fine just taking Xanax.
Hope you get it washed out of your system quickly!

I took that half a pill Friday night and I am still having issues either with panic or heart.
But it's coming on in waves, I'll be fine for about a half hour and then I get another wave of heart palps/pounding, shortness of breath, weakness in my left side and generally feeling like I'm going to keel over.
My eyelid is also still twitching, and i haven't had that sx for ages.
Is it possible for one pill to have screwed me up that bad for this long?
And if it's coming on in waves, does that mean it is just panic issues? I wouldn't think if it were a heart issue that it would do that.

- What is your adrenal support? That should help. Magnesium, Fish oil and Turmeric should also help.
Taking from my experiences from this and other similar reactions, it also may take time - a week or so - before your "control room" has things smoothed out.
Yes, one pill can have a tremendous effect. Once I was forced to breath just one puff of an asthma inhaler. It took 4 months to get over that. My adrenal system was just toasted. -
