Absorption is much better w/o food, but if you cannot handle it, take w/ food, but let your doctor know.

Thank you very much. No, I was not told to start at 300mg. but i am going to. I have learned from past experience with other hard to take meds.
I am taking rifampin along with Biaxin XL. I took the Biaxan this a.m. (have taken this med before). Will add a p.m. dose of rifampin.
thanks again, Feelfit

Empty stomach for the win. Just did 3 months of 600mg upon waking, empty stomach, 1 or 2 hours before food the longer the better. Took an abx vacation 2 weeks ago with no bart symptoms returning yet.

Toppers, thanks a lot. You took the 600mg all at once? How did your liver enzymes hold up?

Both my boys just started this med. My LLMD didn't say either way to take with or without food. They always take them with breakfast and dinner because it just works best that way with school. So I hope it ok they take it with food. Otherwise I don't know when they can take it?

Yes, two 300mg pills after waking up. Liver enzymes were great (milk thistle every night). I should have mentioned this stretch was with 400mg doxy daily, taken apart from the Rifampin.
