I heard it turns it into methyl mercury which is more dangerous.
But I have tingling and nerve symptoms so I was told b12 would be good for that. So confusing!

I went into remission for 12 years after having mine removed and detoxing. I didn't get sick again until I got bitten again.

Why would taking vitamin B-12 be a problem with those of us with amalgams? ANy links for backing this up?

Gary, I can't link you right now but you can google something like "vitamin b12 turning mercury into methyl mercury"

Until my LLMD tells me not to take B12, I will keep taking it. I have many amalgam fillings and no problems.
And I would think that all the LLMD's out there and other GP's that are giving B12 shots in this world, would be saying to remove the amalgam before getting a shot.
Documented Info is needed. ) thanks!

When my now famous lyme doc told me to take sublingal vitamin B12, he didn't ask if I had metal fillings first. I had some, by the way.
In fact, near the end of my treatment, I asked him if I would need to get my metal fillings out. He said that, since I was getting better, evidently in my case it was not necessary.
I brought up the subject, not him.
It is now over 5 years since I completed my lyme treatment and I am still symptom-free, enjoying my life.
So, doesn't seem like the B12 gave ME mercury poisoning.

Paul,
You are right about amalgams being bad, that's definitely been proven. The question is, is taking B-12 something we shouldn't be taking with amalgams in our mouths?
I haven't heard anything of this until today. Would like to know more about it if it's true.

METHYL B-12 (not other types) can cause the mercury in amalgams to move into CNS areas via attachment to the methyl group (not to the B-12).
There are differing opinions on this. I personally did/do not take it while getting them removed b/f of the extra possibility of mercury dust, etc. getting into my system during the drilling and what-not.
