I tested high for IgG CMV....if you are being or have been treated for CMV could you please respond? Valcyte? Oxy..(something i don't remember)?
I think this is hindering me from any improvement and my LLMD has said these titers go down once the Lyme has been taken care of. But I have my doubts.
thanks!

When I first got diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, the main culprit was CMV. I've tried Valtrex, and been prescribed Valcyte. Valtrex didn't do much, although it's worth a try to see if you get any results. I was afraid to take Valcyte, and just took it for a short time. It's a really strong drug, and not to be taken lightly.
I have seen the doctor that prescribes Oxymatrine. This is a product imported from China.
Here is a website that explains some of the treatments for high viral titers like CMV.

Thanks nspiker for the above info.. will definately check out the link.
Oh one more question--what was the reason for you to try the anti-virals? were you not progressing on abx?

I tested positive for nearly all herpes related viruses including CMV. My IgG titer was at the max.
I have been on Valtrex, although it isn't proven to help CMV - it seems to have helped my titers drop some over the past few years. I am really due for re-testing.
My LLMd (well known) who treated AIDS (which starts viral - HIV) says a positive IgG viral tests is meaningless, only means you had exposure at some point. IgM positive concerns him and he treats it.
Strangely, this same LLMD will treat IgG positive Igenex tests. I don't get why a positive IgG if bacterial needs treatment and IgG positive viral test doesn't.
Many Md's butt heads regarding IgG positive viral tests.
Valcyte is one treatment, but check out the viral forums, some get on valcyte and have no change, more study is needed.
Member Timaca here has been through Valcyte and all the viruses, she'd be good to message and ask about the viral forum and her own experience and if she is any better.
