I can really only use it at bedtime, because it knocks me out. I've noticed on nights that I do have to use it, I feel super rested in the morning, but also kind of 'hungover'.
I had the same problem with Lyrica, I felt sort of stoned on it.
I took it around 10:00 last night. It's about 10:30 a.m. now, and I'm still feeling weird, sometimes it lasts until 1 or 2 in the afternoon (which seems much longer than it should be in your system, right?)
Anyone else have this sort of effect from it?

I don't get the sleepy or hungover feeling from Tramadol.
I use it for pain, and luckily it helps me. Causes some constipation issues though, so I try to only use it for 3 or 4 days tops.

I have the opposite. I have to take it in the morning because I feel wired until it is mostly worn off and I can't sleep if it is taken later in the day.
It does seem to have a really long effect for me too when taken around 9am I feel like it starts to wear off around 4pm and I still feel the effects for several hours later. It has a half life of 5-7 hours according to wikipedia and if you compare other pain meds they generally are shorter acting.

i agree with radaraf- tramadol gives me a definate energy boost. I take it for pain but i almost never get the daily episodes of fatique i used to get. I also believe it affects my sleep-for me it causes restless sleep and vivid dreams
