Are these 2 good antibiotics to start treatment? This is what my LLMD prescribed today. What have others begun with? Anyone have experience with side-effects from either of these? Also, my LLMD gave me a natural anti-candida supplement since I am allergic to nystatin. Right after I took it, I got the most awful burning in my stomach. It's still burning. The product is called Kolorex Candida Care. It contains Horopito (Pseudowintera colorata). Anyone else take this and did you get a nasty burning stomach? Thanks for any help!

Did you take it with food? That is important. Do you have any slippery elm bark or DGL around? Either should help calm the burn. Even if you ate prior to taking it, maybe a bit more of a light meal would help to disperse it. -

Keebler, do you take this? Did you get the burn? I tried a product with slippery elm and DGL that the doctor also prescribed, and that didn't help. I tried milk to "coat" the volatile oils and that didn't help either. Not only my stomach was burning, a slight burn extended to my forearms and hands (literally seemed to be dispersed throughout the blood). I get burning stomach from cayenne pepper, too, but this was exponentially worse!

- I don't take it but looked it up and it said to be sure to take with food. If it (or anything else) burns, don't take it and let your doctor know.
Milk can actually make the burn worse after a while. Immediately, it can be soothing but, after a little while, the acid in the milk can burn. I learned this in the days when milk was prescribed for an ulcer but then they found it actually made it worse from the residual burn.
I see that " . . . Horopito (pseudowintera colorata) also known as New Zealand Pepper Tree and Red Horopito . . ." Well, that explains a lot. I've always had trouble being able to tolerate cayenne, too, even in the best capsule with a meal.
Do you have any aloe vera juice - or a nutritional market where you can get some? That would help soothe the burn.
OLE - Olive Leaf Extract - has always been my clear favorite to address candida. Also good is Pau d'arco. Never had any burn from those. I've never been able to take most anti-yeast formulas, especially anything with caprylic acid in it, as many have (but not the one you got).
Hope you feel better soon. -

Thank you Keebler. I'm not sure its the horopito now. I took a Bactrim at 10:00 AM and immediately got the burn again. It's now 8:45 PM and I'm finally beginning to feel better from it. I'm going to forego it tonight and begin Cefuroxime tomorrow. I think that has less side-effects. Thanks for the tip on caprylic acid. Saves me money, not experimenting with that. I think the horopito is supposed to be stronger than OLE and Pau d'arco. At least that's what the web site for the product states. I could get aloe vera juice, but isn't it toxic to drink juice from the plant?

Lymetoo, I think it is the Bactrim that is causing the burning. I didn't take the horopito yesterday and still got the awful burn after taking the Bactrim. The first day I took them both together, and I just assumed it was the horopito because I have never reacted like this to an antibiotic. Thanks for your input.
