Do you have copies of your records? If not, I'd get them along with all labs through the years. Check the levels yourself.
Estrogen is affected by the thyroid, which is affected by the pituitary and so on. My symptoms were always worse cyclically, and my peri-menopause was something from hell. And it lasted 12 years (with migraines from start to finish).
I think a lot of symptoms could be related to hormones.
Here's just a few related to low estrogen and some are also Lyme symptoms:
* Fatigue. * Hot Flashes. * Night Sweats. * Memory Lapses. * Difficult concentrating. * Joint Pain. * Vaginal Dryness. * Dry Skin. * Loss of Libido.

p.s. And the overlap between hormonal symptoms and Lyme symptoms still has me guessing.

Like everything else, Lyme can really screw up your hormones. I've been on bio-identicals for the last 8 yrs., and it's the #1 supp I wouldn't be without.

Like Keltyl, I have been on bio-identical hormones for over a year and would never give them up.
I would never take synthetic hormones.

If you have symptoms and need estrogen, then there is no need to suffer.
If you have already been through menopause and its been awhile, you may no longer need hormones. I read that somewhere......that sometimes after a few years, women can stop taking hormones and will feel fine without them.

sutherngrl...I'm past menopause and don't think I'll ever give them up. I've read of alot of ppl way older than me taking bio's. If you feel better and look better why not?
One doc told me that was the way it was suppossed to be...you get old and hormones leave. I'd like to see where that's written in stone. (kta123 in case you didn't know!)

Hey kta123, sorry I can't remember where I read it. Was just reading up on hormones on the internet and came across that. Also my sister-in-law said after a few years past menopause, she no longer needed hormones. She said she felt fine without them.
I agree that it is probably better to stay on them; especially if it keeps you looking and feeling better.
I'm not on them yet, but getting close; so I'm no expert by any means. I am just trying to learn a little to get prepared.

I had to have a complete hysterectomy when I was 29 due to severe endometriosis. I was on Premarin for 1.5 years then got on bioidenticals.
Once I found out I had LD, and then the rest of my family has LD, the bio-identicals went on the back burner due to money reasons and I have not been on them at all for the last 7 months or so. I'm 32 years old.
I notice that my skin is very very dry, I do get more headaches than I use to, but so far I'm doing okay without em.

Some people cannot get estrogen, there is a genetic reason for that and a genetic test, I think it comes with the test for the pathways.
You need to know if you can tolerate estrogens, otherwise they poison you. Also you can get breast cancer. I get worse with estrogens and also I do not need them.
I think every gyn should first do the test and then prescribe estrogens.

I had the severe migraines with non-stop vomiting for 12-24 hours (vomiting and wretching every 20 minutes or so), and NOTHING worked to stop the vomiting. (Couldn't take migraine meds due to Raynaud's and nothing I tried worked for them either). That was 14 years. I have 8 sisters and no one else had migraines that severe and no one else vomited like that, so I wonder if it was related to Bb. Falling estrogen contributes to the migraine, I believe. I tried estrogen, but my doctor only gave me the minimum dose, and it wasn't enough. Then she insisted on progesterone with it. One capsule of Prometrium and BAM - a big whopping headache. So, I think karenl is right. Some women are sensitive to hormones and can get sicker when they play around with the natural process or add them.
