My bottly says to take one to two 100MG tablets twice a day. I am going to take 2 a day the first day (maybe today) then 4 a day for 400MG. THE BOTTLE says to take on a EMPTY stomach. the people here say take with food. what gives?
ALSO, does it matter if the nyastin is taken with/without food, with/without antibiotics? And when should the probiotics be taken?

Do NOT take Doxy on an empty stomach. I also suggest taking only 2 pills a day (1 in morning and 1 at night) for at least a week.
Build yourself up, then add one more for a week, than add the last one.
Don't take Doxy before bed, wait at least 2 hours after taking before you lay down.
Nystatin can be taken with or without food. Probioitcs need to be taken at least 2 hours away from abx.
Take Doxy and Nystatin after breakfast then maybe take probiotic at lunch or just before bed.

Always take Doxy with plenty of food. I take it in the middle of a meal.

If you can manage 400mg Doxy without food, you have a better stomach than I do.
I tried that once, and it didn't stay down for long. Expect nausea/stomach upset if you take it without food. It may be absorbed a little less, but you'll feel better if you eat before taking it.
If it was me, I'd probably take 200mg for about a week or two, to see how I react, then up the dose if nothing weird is going on.
What did your doctor recommend? And as for probiotics, take it several hours away from the antibiotics. I usually take mine at night, before I go to bed.

WHY does it say to take doxy on a empty stomach? and I only have to take the probiotics once a day? (I hope) will the doxy not work as good if taken with food?
sorry for the obvious questions but I want to make sure I am starting right.

Doxy will cause nausea/stomach upset if taken without food. Or at least it did for me.
And it's recommended to take on an empty stomach, as it is absorbed a little better that way. But it's not worth it -- trust me. The absorption difference isn't that great, and it's bad enough to have Lyme symptoms. You don't want Lyme and feel like vomiting all day too.
I forgot to mention one important thing: Don't take calcium, magnesium or any minerals several hours before or after taking Doxy. That will mess up absorption.
Probiotics twice a day is probably preferred, although I usually take once a day. But I also take a decent dose -- around 300 billion bacteria a day.

I was able to take 100mg on an empty stomach, but not 200mg. If you have an iron stomach, you can possibly manage it... but most can't.

My daughter couldn't, made her very nauseaus, we had to take with food...

Dont take it on an empty stomach!!! Eat, drink water then take it then eat and drink more and stay out of the sun. The Rx should be for 300-400 mg day of Doxy, not 200 mg.
Nystatin it doesnt matter when you take it and probiotics should b e spaced from antiiotics as much as you can. Do not take Florastor with Nystatin, wait until Nystatin is finished before you add that.

I basically just asked the same question, I didn't see your post. I am taking 200 mg. of doxy right now. Which is fine with me because I herxed really bad last time.
This time I am taking it with food because I read on here I should but didn't know why and that's why I asked in my own post.
Between this time and last, I didn't take it with food last time and I was nauseous and I herxed worse. I mean I was herxing after pill 2 and it lasted the whole month, with periods of it being worse.
This time I'm on day 4 and haven't herxed yet. I might try to start taking it without food again because it seemed like it was working a lot better for me.
I wouldn't get as nauseous as long as I had eaten about 2 hours prior to taking it. If I didn't eat all day and then took it it was much worse.
I am also on Nystatin, I wasn't the first time. I've switched Docs.

i get soooo sick taking it on an empty stomach... i'd rather the doxy just not work to it's full potential than throw up :X
