Anyone use the Hyland's MagPhos tablets for magnesium supplementation?
I am wondering if it would be a good alternative to the Mag-Tab, easier to take and can take throughout the day and at bedtime.

Here's a link to vitacost:

Hi Marrit,

I often take this and some of the other tissue/cell salts when I feel the need. I think it does help, and it works fast.

Not sure how the Mag Phos compares with mag supplements, though. I take supplements like mag asporotate sometimes too.

That's a good price. My health food store charges about $10 for the 500 tablet size bottle.

Thanks Nutmeg.
The Mag-Tab SR my doctor gave me is supposed to be the best absorbed. I have never been able to take any magnesium supplements, and I've tried many, but the Mag-Tab is fine.
Looking for something easier than a big caplet, though.
I like the idea of tissue salts, but I wonder if it's a crock, or if it really does anything.

Hi Marrit,

Tissue salts have been around a long time, I assume. They are homeopathic, as I understand it, so they dissolve quickly and get to the bloodstream quickly.

You would not be getting 100mg of elemental magnesium like you would with a capsule/tablet, but I'm sure not all of that is really absorbed and getting where it needs to go anyway.

At least it is not an expensive experiment to try the Mag Phos, and you would know quickly if it was going to help.

They do seem to help me with muscle pain and cramping, and I take them when I can't sleep.

Take care,
Nutmeg

Tissue salts are certainly not "a crock" - very helpful. But not enough by any means.

Each type has its place. One does not cancel out the need or help of the other. You will still need a larger dose of magnesium from some source other than a tiny homeopathic pellet, though.

If you have trouble with a large caplet, find a powdered source. Just be sure it's a very good form. Citrate and glycinate are well absorbed. Oxide is not.
