Okay. We went to the doctor this morning and I was given a copy of all my son's test results. I am posting to get some feedback from others.

IGM WB ~ Everything came back negative except for 41 which was IND. I know that this is not lyme specific.

IGG WB ~ All negative except for 30 which was positive and 39 which was IND. From what I've read 30 is not specific for lyme either but 39 is? Someone please correct me if I am wrong on that.

Other tests that were done showed his on the low normal range vitamin D and it was suggesting that I supplement to bring it up a bit higher. Normal is 30-100 and my son came back at 33.

Mycoplasma came back positive.

IGM was 2.34 which is a positive reading.

IGG was 810 which was interpreted as a low positive on the lab report.

His chemistry was normal except for a slightly elevated bilirubin.

Chlamydia pneumoniae was normal.

WBC was all normal.
-----------------------

The doc gave us Biaxin for the mycoplasma and said it will also target lyme if he does have it. If I wanted to, we could retest for the lyme in the future.

A little info on my son. He is not a very sick child but has had some problems since he was first born. My water broke at 26 weeks and he was born at 32 weeks.

He had some developmental delays and didn't even speak until he was 4. I had him do different types of therapies and to make a long story short, he caught up with his peers by the time he was in kindergarten.

He is also very bright. He was IQ tested in school and comes back as a 150. This testing was done because his first grade teacher had some concerns about him being autistic. By the beginning of the school year in second grade, he had a diagnosis of "high functioning autism" per the school psychologist but was also considered gifted.

He did well in school up until about the end of third grade.

It was at that time, that he started having trouble in school and then was diagnosed as having ADHD. I tried meds. None of them worked. I changed his diet around and tried different behavioral therapies with some success. Then he started to regress again and now...he barely passed the fifth grade.

This is why I wanted him tested for lyme. My thinking was that the neuro problems were caused by Bb. The WB (which is from Igenex) is negative overall.

I still think that lyme may be an issue though. Thoughts?

Well, the mycoplasma would be enough to make him sick, but I would not rule out Lyme just yet.

Western Blot Explanation
http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/42077

From the above link:

39: Unknown what this antigen is, but based on research at the National Institute of Health (NIH), other Borrelia (such as Borrelia recurrentis that causes relapsing fever), do not even have the genetics to code for the 39 kDa antigen, much less produce it. It is the most specific antibody for borreliosis of all.

41: Flagella or tail. This is how Borrelia burgdorferi moves around, by moving the flagella. Many bacteria have flagella. This is the most common borreliosis antibody.

---------------
In my clinical experience, if a patient has symptoms suspicious for borreliosis, and has one or more of the following bands, there is a very high probability the patient has borreliosis.

These bands are 18, 22, 23-25, 28, 30, 31, 34, 37, 39, 41, 83, and 93.

[---- from DR C's update from 2005 ---
----The significant antibodies, in my opinion, are the 18, 23-25, 28, 30, 31, 34, 39, 58, 66 and 93.----]

Looks like I forgot to mention 41 was positive on IGG as well.

I'm not ruling out the possibility of lyme and we are starting the Biaxin. I'm going to keep an eye on how he reacts.

What I can't figure out though is if any of these symptoms could just be the result of him being born early. I guess time will tell.

Philly

Much luck with his treatment. My nephews were born (twins) very early and both have down syndrome. THey are now age 18 but function as 3 years olds. It is a very difficult thing to handle adult men who cannot comprehend what is goign on.

They live in PA also, Fawn Lake Forest, and started with high IQs and then all of a sudden they started decreasing? We tested them for lyme also due to the area. They also had 41 positive (almost everyone does).

I dont feel your son has lyme (thank God). I know we try our hardest to find reasons for what is happening. The Biaxin should clear up the mycoplasma and your doc is right, it would help with lyme also.

I thought I was the only one who saw a special needs childs IQ go in reverse as they grew up? Maybe we have found something by crossing paths.

God bless Ann
