I may want to supplement my LLMD with some alternative medicine. I mainly have lyme arthritis in hands, and knees. Would it be better to see a LLND or an acupuncturist? Thanks for your help!

- A LL ND who is also certified in acupuncture. Many NDs are. There are some L.Ac.s who are LL but, just as you have to do your homework to find a LL ND, do the same search.
If you want them to work with you regarding supplements, they must be LL and, even ILADS-educated (in that they have done much research, attended a few seminars and have a professional relationship with other LLMDs, LLNDs, etc.)
Generally, NDs have more years of education but both NDs and L.Ac.s receive rigorous training. Be sure to ask where they did their schooling and training - and who they think are the best ILADS researchers or where they learned about lyme.
You just need someone who has gone beyond that with training in all the tick-borne infections.
You might ask at your area support groups. -
