Hi All,

I have a question on taking Mepron w/o Zith.

My Dr. has me on a 3 weeks on abx and 1 week off abx treatment plan right now.

She recently added in Mepron and I am taking that every week.

So, my question is about the week off abx BUT still taking Mepron.

I have read in a few places on the boards that you should take Zith (or something else) while taking Mepron.

Will taking a week of just Mepron and no Zith be an issue?

Should I ask my Dr.?

Thanks for reading and providing your insight!

I would ask the doctor. I take mepron/zith daily.

I take mepron twice a day and zith 600mg once a day.

Pm me and let me know who your doctor is?

You said: " . . . a 3 weeks on abx and 1 week off abx treatment plan right now. "

So, It's just one week out of four that you are off abx, right? And mepron all the time. Was artemisinin suggested - or will it be started at one point?

Zith can be very hard on the ears. It's not the only abx to consider since others are easier on the ears. But you should be asking questions to be sure you are properly covered.

What abx are you on now?

And, as Janice suggests, ask your LLMD. I'm sure your doctor would appreciate your wanting to learn more and the rationale behind certain choices. It's always good to ask why.

And ask when the next change in treatment will come. Sometimes, a slower or lower start will be followed by major changes after it's clear certain meds will be okay (if there was a question about being able to tolerate something).

That doesn't make any sense. Mepron + Zithromax +artemesia is supposed to be taken daily for 4-6 months.

WildCondor - that's what I thought. I am going to ask her. thanks.

Keebler - Well, now that I am reviewing my meds again, I am not sure it is planned right. but then again, I am not sure of anything these days. I used to think I was intelligent...

Three months ago she changed my treatment to taking Doxy/Zith during weeks 1-3 (M/W/F only) and pulsing Tindamax week 3 (no mepron). So I was off abx completely week 4.

I screwed that up and she decided to change it again to:
Week 1-3: Doxy (daily), Zith (MWF)
Week 4: Tindamx (daily), Doxy (daily)
Week 1-4: Mepron (daily)

As for Artemis, she told me to take that before Mepron, and I completely forgot about it. (My brain fog and memory has gotten worse lately.)

So she said forget that and go right to Mepron. I did ask "shouldn't I take both" and she said no.

I feel so overwhelmed and confused.
