take the doxy 8a 4p and 12 midnight r right before bed.

probiotics should be at least 2 hours after abx if not mitaken,

but you want to try to take the doxy every 8 hours to keep a constant level in your body.

Make sure you take it with food and water and dont lie down after! You should be on FLorastor to protect against c.difficile.

yankees, I respectfully disagree with merrygirl on one point. Taking doxy at midnight isn't good unless you plan to go to bed at 2am. Like WildCondor said, "take it with food and water AND DON'T LIE DOWN AFTER" (emphasis mine).

Doxy, like most abx can be hard on your stomach and esophagus. Not wise to take right before bedtime.

I take probiotics first thing in the morning and last thing before going to bed. Yes, for sure at least two hours in between doxy and probiotics.

I thought Doxy worked best on an empty stomach. My instructions say to take it 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating.

--------------------
Bite date ?
2/10 symptoms began
5/10 dx'd, after 3 months numerous test and doctors

IgM Igenex +/CDC +
+ 23/25, 30, 31, 34, 41, 83/93

Currently on:

Currently at around 95% +/- most days.

bcb,

You are correct in saying that doxy works best on an empty stomach, unfortunately, not everyone's stomach can tolerate it. That's why it's suggested they eat food when taking doxy.

If you are one of the lucky ones who can take doxy without food, wonderful! Sadly, many of us can't, so that's why some of us have to take food with it.

BUT, at no time should you take it at midnight and immediately lie down. That would definitely cause you some problems in a very short time. At the very latest, abx should be taken two hours prior to lying down.

Gary is right.

The instructions say that but in reality, not many people can actually follow that because it is too hard on your stomach. When I had to take Doxy 400 mg per day I took it during waking hours and did NOT lie down afterward, space it out. I had the same question about taking it on an empty stomach, so I called Dr. Burrascano and asked him this question. He said to take the pills with food! Like, eat a full meal, not just a cracker or a bite of food but a meal, and then take the Doxy, then eat some more! Do not lie down afterward for 2-3 hours or it will burn your esophagus.
