I read somewhere that people with babesia cannot give blood.
I'm assuming that would also go for having lyme and BTO?
Would that go for organ donation too?
And, I'm assuming this would mean forever as one could never be assured that any of these diseases are ever really gone, correct?

I keep forgetting about the search on this site, which I just did and saw some of the post.
I will try to remember in the future.
Thanks for your reply.

If you get an organ transplant, you are on anti-rejection meds (steroids, usually) for life. You have severely weakened immunity. An infected organ would be the end of you. And with Lyme, a drawn-out end, at that.
Please do NOT donate blood or organs if you have ever been treated for Lyme. The blood supply is not screened for TBDs. If you feel compelled to help those in need, give time and/or money to worthy causes.
And, yes, we will all have these organisms with us forever. But, hopefully, without the debilitating symptoms of Lyme disease.

Any chance our eyes could be donated?? (had that thought this week)
Many many years ago (and I've had Lyme most of my life) I gave blood. They hit a nerve where the blood was taken. ( My arms are very small the needle they use is huge. )
It hurt for a long time and I wouldn't let anyone touch that arm for any type of bloodwork again for the next 20 yrs or so. I think it was a GOOD thing to have happen to me because I also refused to give blood again!
Hundreds of people could have been infected by my giving blood. So glad I was "stopped" from giving anymore!

- Yeah, I had wondered a while back about eyes. Then I read that Borrelia love the eyes, too. And it can be hard to detect in any tissue that is donated. Borrelia, with its numerous shapes and forms, is virtually impossible to detect with absolute certainly and even more so with the inadequate testing the IDSA would approve for such use.
What we CAN do, however, to help save lives is get certified to teach First Aid or CPR classes -- or if we can't ourselves - suggest that for others, finding out the times and location of classes through your local American Red Cross.
If your local Red Cross First Aid instructors do not yet know about tick removal, you might direct them to the LDA and ILADS sites for official documents.
Same with Girl and Boy Scout chapters, etc. If we can't do this, ask those you know who are able to become educators (while still instilling in youth a love of nature - just informed enjoyment). ----------
