Hi All,
have been treating babs with mepron/zith for almost six weeks.

Here is the deal maybe it's herxing or just the symptoms coming out to play.

Today I have weak muscles in shoulders/arms muscle pain in calves.

A little fever but lately the night sweats have gone, the headaches aren't much of an issue.

Also stiff neck which I know is part of babs.

Any of you deal with this?? TF if you are on, please give me your thoughts.

Man, this really is awful.

Although other than that, feel ok today.

Janice

Often during a Herx my muscles feel painful. While I normally exercise, doing so while Herxing can be so awful that I avoid it.

My doctor has told me it is because of all of the inflammation that builds up during a Herx, it affects the muscle tone and makes them more susceptible to injury.

I'm going through the same presently, Herxing for a couple of weeks now on rifampin/zith for Bart.

Hang in there!

Forgot to add, I've been advised to supplement Mg and to use NSAIDs like Advil to help with symptoms of muscle pain.

I also find extra detox, like salt baths and milk thistle, to be soothing if not also helpful.

wonko,
thanks for the info and advice. I feel like I'm losing my mind. One minute feeling ok and now like crap.

Your doctor sounds very wise and a good source of info.

I hope you feel better soon.

milk thistle?? Really? how does that help??

Extra mag? I'll try that. Haven't taken my meds as i'm so dizzy and nauseous.

Is the herx from rif different than a lyme or babs herx? [Smile]

Janice, I too have that muscle and joint pain that I've never had before in this whole journey. I was treated 9 yrs ago with strong IV drugs and never had this 'herx' before. Now after 7 months of either Biaxin and now Zith, I'm experiencing this big time. Someone in another lyme group said that sometimes Zith can cause Teninitis... Not sure if that's the whole thing though. I do think we are herxing in new places. I have the stiff neck big time too. I have babs.... and still have the night sweating/chills with all this muscle pain. I'm just thinking it will go away in time.... Would take this herx over my old mennigitis feeling in my head any day though! We'll all hang in there.

Lyme, Babs, Fry Bug..... Whatever it is, may a treatment be discovered to make us all whole again!

I have had terrible calf pain for a while.....no better since treating babs, feels like my calf muscles are snapping after sitting........

also muscle weakness, for example...like drying my hair 30 secs at a time as my upper arms really hurt....

i thought you were not meant to take milk thistle with mepron.....maybe i'm wrong but that came to mind when i read through the thread......

I know what you mean though one day ok next day completely different.......
