Hi Everyone... It's me again and I have yet another question regarding my daughter (she's 14)..
Kayla started Zithromax about 20 days ago. She had some initial problems with it on day 6, itchy throat, kind of swollen feeling..... her LLMD wanted her to continue taking to see if it was just a side affect she could get over. She is having trouble taking alot of meds. Well we are on day 21 now.... and last night was horrendous.... she has the most excruitiating pain in her throat, she says it's lower in her throat (not where you can see where you would shine a flash light).... she was up all night and we tried everything from sucking on ice chips, sore throat losenges, gargling with salt water (just a bit), taking tylenol to eating ice cream in the middle of the night. She said she never felt so much pain in her throat before. She finally fell asleep around 4am and woke up now with a fever. Not high about 101..... Can you she get Strep Throat while on antibiotics? That wouldn't be possible right???? I have a call into her LLMD to see what he suggests we do. But was wondering if any of you knew the answer to that question. Thanks Everyone!

Our LLMD at our last visit said that he is discovering a lot more patients who also have persisitant strep as well. We are going to explore this with him more and I think he recommened having the tonsels removed. We have a follow up on 6/1 and I can hopefully post more and hopefully your LLMD can guide you as well.

Hi, we just went through a weird episode with strep in our family that manifested with sore throat, but also with fever and a bad bronchial cough. I got it also and I was on Minocycline. It responded quicky to Amoxycillin. You could possibly save your daughter much pain if you take her in and get a strep culture done. Froggy

Sorry your daughter is not feeling well.
Our daughter has been complaining of sore throat and feeling feverish for a couple of days.
We have just restarted Mino last Thursday, so feel it is probably herx/ and or Allergies. Pollen is everywhere.
Went to MD just to be on safe side, Quick strep test is neg, will send out for culture. Dr. feels either allergies or viral.
Also said if sore throat does not go away by next week, to come back as could be Mono.
Hope your daughter feels better.

I have had strep throat about 3 or 4x since being on lyme treatment. In the beginning, I had systemic strep.

Oh this is weird, my son, 14, was home sick yesterday with a sore throat he said he has had for 3-4 days. Now he does sound stuffy today and he is hoarse too, so I guess it might be viral? But he said his throat hurts REALLY badly.
He has had his tonsils removed already. He is on Zith and Mino.

I had H1N1 about a month or so ago and it started with a sore throat and a low grade temperature at first. My temp reached about 101.5 for a couple of days.
I was treated with amoxy and tamiflu and was better within 3 or 4 days.

Has she had a blood test for Strep? Not a throat culture.
Strep in the blood is as difficult to treat as Lyme. It doesn't just go away quickly.
You may want to look into it although there are other infections that can cause a sore throat such as Bartonella.
I hope she feels better. I got a strep infection from an endoscopic ultra sound. It is very difficult to treat.

Ditto to what Haley said.
There are 2 blood tests for strep.
ASO and Anti-DNase B Strep Antibodies.

UGH...Cody went to school today but came home with a 100 degree fever, sore and swollen glands, stuffy nose, and hoarse. He already had Swine Flu last October so I know he has immunity to that.
He has some strep stuff that shows up in his bloodwork from Dr. J. I'll have to look back at what that is. He wasn't sick though when that was done. This is probably viral.

I have a mother who is treating her daughter for Impetigo, with my frequency device, which appeared after a Strep Throat infection.
She has already been on a Sulpha Drug, Amoxicyllin and now the doctor wants her to take Erythromycin. She has not responded positively to the prior two antibiotics, so apparently this pathogen is getting pretty resistant to antibiotics.
Fortunately, one frequency treatment has reduced the outbreak a great deal, and I am fairly sure one more treatment will eliminate it totally. I will know in a few days for certain.
There also is something going around here that causes a sore throat, and slight fever, but it is not Strep. I had it and other also. It lasts about four days and is gone.

It fails quite often also, so no miracle, but sometimes it works extremely well.
