I'm curious how many here went a year or longer before they got diagnosed?
And how has the treatment been going for you?
If I receive a Lyme diagnosis, then it would have been 2 years since I had received the bite.
I can't help but be concerned about that long length of time between bite and diagnosis.

Rightly so neller78---the concern is the longer you are infected by the stealthy borrelia the more likely you are to pick up other organisms from the immune system being depressed.
I am going out on a limb here but guessing just by my situation--on orals only---it is going to take me as much time to get well as it did to get down from the bites.

I've had lyme for AT LEAST 10 years--based on the fact that I started to have a major cluster of symptoms start around then. It may well have been longer and might even have been 32 years ago--my mom only recently told me she found a bad bite on my arm back then, took me to the doc, and noting was done about it.
So there are exacerbating factors like having been given steroids or other immunosuppressant drugs or having a genetic immune deficiency.
You really need a great doc who knows what to do. It makes all the difference, I think. I'm 8 months into treatment and I'm seeing some minor gains. My doc predicts 2 years of treatment.
There are lots of people on here that were sick for ages and made it back. So 2 years isn't great but it could be worse PLUS everyone is different. Hang in there. This poop is no fun and takes a long time.

I was mis-diagnosed for 12 years. Finally found a great LLMD one year ago and was diagnosed with Lyme, Bartonella and Babesia.
I started seeing a big difference at 8 months of being on orals ONLY. About 9 months into treatment, I got the flu, pneumonia and sinus infection, my immune system didn't know what to fight first. It took me a good two months to recover from that. That was a real bummer.
After recovering, I am feeling better than I did at 8 months of treatment. More energy, which is my biggest problem, balance is much improved and cognitive has improved.
I can go out all day and be tired at the end of the day but not fatigued.
I believe it all boils down to having an excellent doctor and following his/her directions and treatment plan.

You say "the bite." DId you have a bullseye rash? If so, then you definitely have it, regardless of what any test says. I'll send you the information of some Lyme-literate doctors in the region.
I wouldn't wait for a blood test result to treat. There's only a 30% chance that you'll get a positive on one of their tests. The rash is Go to lymecryme.com and look under PATENTS. There are good tests; they've just all been withheld from us. http://www.lymeinfo.net/medical/LDSeronegativity.pdf
If you can't get enough antibiotic, I'd get my hands on these herbs. I've never used them, but this researcher is one of the best.

I'm taken aback by how long some of you went undiagnosed. It's good to see you've gotten a diagnosis and are being treated, but I sure wish this were more mainstream so people wouldn't have to suffer so long with it!
onbam - I didn't have the rash like most of the pictures I see. It wasn't this huge, nasty looking thing. But I did develop a smaller, fainter red coloring that circled the bite/tick head that was embedded in my skin.
Shortly after the bite, I began getting sick.
