So..one of my symptoms is minor pain / cramping in my calfs. I also notice that they will twitch frequently. Both do it. I'll be sitting or lying in bed and the muscles will pulsate a bit off an on. Kind of like the way an eyelash twitches occasionally. Sometimes they feel like they have a mild cramp in them.
I assumed this was the Lyme...but have since read it could be Bart. I strongly suspect Bart as I had gastritis in March, but I tested just under the cutoff for Bart and Babs.
Thoughts?

I'm thinking my leg muscle twitching is a coinfection, probably bart, because it goes away very quickly when I take Biaxin or zith. I don't know for sure if Biaxin works on bart, but so far, that is the only coinfection that has been mentioned to me.
I just got tested for coinfections at my last appointment, so I don't know which ones will show positive. I have been treated for bart already, though.

Twitching occurs with mineral depletion. You need minerals to detox because minerals are needed to make the many enzymes that your liver uses for detox. Lyme treatment uses up minerals.
I can't tell you which minerals you need but some doctors will run a test to check your cellular levels of minerals. This is different than the typical blood level check for minerals.
Most lyme patients need extra magnsium. I've always needed more colloidal minerals and magnesium. Some will need to add calcium and postassium. Too much calcium can be a problem so you do have to be careful.
Adding minerals could take care of the problem but even if it doesn't, you need to be sure to get enough minerals so that your body can detox properly.
There are lots of posts in the archives from Marnie about the importance of magnesium and how lyme patients are always low.

I have had non-stop muscle twitching (left calf only) for almost 6 years. I was treated for Lyme and co's for 3 years and nothing helped or decreased the twitching.
It is the first thing that happened to me-cramping and twitching in my calf. Have no idea if it is even lyme related but I have it 24/7.
