I went to the local health food/organic food store and bought the cat's claw. The price is comparable to online and I didn't have to wait for it to be delivered so I figured why not.

But now I am wondering about the brand. I didn't realize there was so much importance in the brand.

I bought, "NOW" Brand. It is made in the USA.

The supplement facts say Cat's Claw 1.0 g. (1,000) mg (Una Tomentosa) (Inner Bark)

Other ingredients: Gelatin (capsule) and Magnesium Stearate (vegtable source)

Contains no sugar, salt, starch, yeast, wheat, gluten, corn, soy, milk, egg, shellfish, or preservatives

Cat's Claw is a unique South American herb available in several different forms. We have taken great care to provide only the highest quality pure inner bark of the Peruvian Cat's Claw.

That is everything the bottle says.

The brand has a website www.nowfoods.com

I am afraid to take it if it's not a good brand. Hopefully someone knows the answer to this.

NOW is a very good, reputable brand that offers supplements that are usually fairly affordable. One of my NDs recommends some of their products and he is meticulous about researching everything he suggests.

If you are concerned about the Cat's Claw coming from South America, that is the only place it grows, in the Amazon Rain Forest.

I think you can relax with your choice.

Start with just one a day for about about a week - with lunch is best when trying something new - on a day when you are just staying close to home.

Oh no I wasn't concerned where it came from. Just putting what it said on the bottle just incase it was important info.

Can I take Cat's Claw alone? I wanted to do SB core protocol as I'm sure you know because you posted in the other thread but was unable to get the book today. No where here sells it, big suprise.

But I'm afraid to start only the Cat's Claw. Is it ok to start the cat's claw now and then the other two when I can order them and the book?

I think you can start cat's claw now - but it's good if you're not planning to drive. That's good advice for the first dose of any new medicine or supplement, actually. (I learned the hard way from a B3 supplement years ago - I had to pull off the highway as I had a heat flush that could have fueled a small country.)

I'm not a health care person at all but I've taken it, mostly in tincture. I suggest it with lunch or a snack just so you've got some food to mix with it. I suggest early afternoon in case someone is stimulated by something it gives them time to settle down before sleep and if it makes one sleepy, a nap can be taken.

As this is true cat's claw it should have a mildly relaxing property (unlike the TOA-free versions).

Be sure to drink a good amount of water (as usual, but just a reminder).

Amazon also has the book. And you may call your local lyme support group in case someone can loan it to you for a week or two.

It is a fabulous reference book, though, and as I read just in short spurts, it took a me a long time to get through it. It's very well organized and such, though, and full of great detail.

I ordered it on Amazon, but I didn't want to pay for fast shipping so it will probably take forever like "Cure Unknown" did lol.

Hopefully by the end of next week I'll have it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm always so afraid to try stuff.

I have magnesium supplements because I heard they were good for air hunger. Bought two big bottles of them. Haven't opened them.

Yes, you can take Cat's Claw alone.
There is a physician who suggests taking Cat's Claw and Systemic Enzymes as a Lyme protocol.

Buhner thinks that Rain-Tree is the best brand.

Which kind of magnesium did you get?
Look at the list of ingredients.

I think she just wondered what form? Mag. Glycinate, Mag. Citrate, - whatever the second word is - or a combination.

Some forms are more absorbable than others.

Oh geez, didn't realize there was so many different forms. Here I always thought magnesium was magnesium, oye.

It's magnesium oxide. Is that good? Bad? Should I use it to take it back?

Magnesium oxide is not absorbed so well by the intestines.
It is inexpensive, so the manufacturers use it.

Could you exchange it for mag glycinate?

I like Source Naturals Ultra-Mag, which has
magnesium citrate, taurinate, malate, glycinate and succinate.
