After an appointment today, the ID doctor is sending son's girlfriend to hematologist TOMORROW to rule out bone cancer -- based on her blood counts. He is thinking this is the problem and not bartonella/lyme.

I realize how immunosuppressive bartonella is supposed to be... but I do not know anything about blood counts, etc. so I do not know what to think at this point.

Anyone else suspected to have cancer and then found it to actually be lyme and/or coinfections?

Yes, but not officially. My right shin hurt so badly for so long and the pain was so deep, I was seriously concerned it might be bone cancer.

I had other symptoms though, so I thought I'd see if ONE thing could explain everything instead of a LIST of things.

Just a couple of months after first thinking that I learned about Lyme and Co. I knew then I had bartonella.

My blood counts have been wonky before with this stuff, though.

I had bone pain so bad that I also thought it was cancer. I do know that the blood counts can be messed up from lyme or co's too.

The pain is so bad it makes me wonder if it's bone cancer.

I had x-rays of hands and fore arms. Nothing showed.

They wanted me to do a bone scan but I did not have it done as I was thinking Lyme by that time.

It was Lyme and in treatment it is a lot better.

they took 17 vials of blood from her.... labs won't be back until late next week. Preliminary diagnosis so far is bone cancer, leukemia or LONG TERM INFECTION.

I hope it is long term infection. I have lumps along my shin bone from bartonella and places where it is caved in. It also hurt like &^$$% when I was not in treatment.

Don't let them cut your legs off!! You know how stupid those doctors can be.
