Just started prescription antifungal yesterday.
Prior to this I have been taking herbals and staying as close to an anti-yeast diet as possible.
This morning I woke with some nasty Neuro. symptoms and was wondering if yeast die-off could cause this? Pins, needles, headache, flashing lights in vision (like what is that???) to name a few. I also feel just overall crappy and flu like.
Anyone know if yeast die-off can occur so quickly (I think I am overloaded with the junk) and if so can it cause Neuro. symptoms?
I am also taking a break from my abx.'s and am on day three of none. So I don't know if it is the lyme coming back so quickly or the yeast kicking the bucket... Any thoughts?

Either your symptoms are from killing yeast or that the ABX is working better because of the control of yeast or your immune systems natural defenses are working better because yeast is getting better controlled.
Any or all of the above.
So, the controlling of you diet and supplimenting with herbs didn't control the yeast? Not surprising.

Thanks for your feedback.
After 7 months of abx. diet and supp.'s just were not cutting it for me.
I think all the above make sense and I like the idea of my own immune system taking charge.
Thanks again for your insights.

- Q: [Can] Yeast Die-Off Cause Neuro. Symptoms?
Absolutely. Be sure your liver support is in place. With the flashing light stuff, is your magnesium level on board? If not, that should help. Also the flashing lights suggest your nervous system is overloaded. Be very careful to not over exert.
If it is actually your eyes, you might have an eye doctor take a look but what you describe sounds very familiar and the flashing, to me, has only been relieved with aggressive REST for eyes and for body. Support measures help and magnesium is vital, but the rest is the key to getting the flashing to settle down.
I can understand looking to complementary methods. Not all are equal so I hope you have an ILADS-educated LL ND (naturopathic doctor) guiding you. It's vital that they have the science of lyme behind them.
Lyme really clobbers the immune system, it can't do what it needs just on its own. It can be nearly impossible for it to take charge. Be sure to have immune support but know that lyme makes one part of the immune function zoom into overdrive (that needs to be tamed) and another part just gets knocked out ( that needs gentle support but never boosting).
Now, you may have researched this at length - and may have a LL ND - but I can't tell so, as I spent years on herbs that were not specific enough (or a regular ND said they were), I just don't want someone else to waste time.
Yes, there are some very good specific complementary protocols (if you want links, let me know). And, yet, sometimes, they are not enough alone. Sometimes, they can be. But the fact that candida blossomed indicates that the herbals were not covering all the bases.
Be sure the herbals are specific to lyme or other TBD - and to candida. Not all are. They must be specific and in a certain formula or protocol.
Many LL NDs also use abx. The key is knowing just what support to put with that. And, as mentioned above, not all herbs are in the same league. It still takes strong action to battle lyme. Even some strong antimicrobial herbs may not have specific action against all forms of lyme - but others may - or in combination.
Also be sure to consider other tick-borne infections.
For candida, I have found that Olive Leaf Extract (OLE) worked for me to prevent candida with on abx if started before. After the fact, Diflucan may be needed but OLE has a place.
Have you considered a rife machine? It's not a magic cure at all, however, it is one option as part of a plan.

One of my symptoms that yeast is getting out of control is neuro symptoms, so it would make sense that you would get that in die-off as well.

Did your yeast die off ever include muscle twitching? That happened to me when I took Diflucan.

Thanks for all the info. everyone - much appreciated.
Started taking OLE and Oil of Oregano well AFTER I began abx.'s. Also did a course of CandiGone by Renew Life and felt somewhat better which is why I asked my LLMD for some prescription anti-fungal.
Thought I would really hammer it out, but it seems to be really a rough go.
I am actually getting some muscle twitching on my leg.
Taking 500mg.s of Mag. and will try to bump that up. I also tend to get low on Potassium so am careful with that as well.
Just feeling so herxy - it feels just like my lyme herx's and makes me wonder..what is yeast and what is lyme?

I had a terrible HERX from Diflucan a few months ago. That is how I knew for sure that I had a serious yeast issue. Finally now, things are getting back to normal.
Take my word for it...clean your diet up NOW and stick to it. As soon as you "cheat", it will start all over. I learned the hard way

Thanks for the confirmations.
I did clean up my diet about 8 weeks ago...I know - a little late into the process BUT I never ate any simple sugars. Did eat alot of carb.s - mostly comblex to support my running and biking (which I do very little of now). I have since cut way back on those as well.
I eat as close to raw as I can but I think I may have started this a bit too late in my treatment.
I am on day 3 of anti-fungal and feel as sick as I felt with lyme herxing.
How does one tell the differnece between a yeast die off and lyme? I am taking a week or two break from my abx.'s while starting the Diflucan and am concerned that I will not be able to tell the difference.
My LLMD may want to add Nystatin to the mix. Anyone have experience with that anit-fungal?
I am also allergic to yeast, so my LLMD suggested taking Benadryl during the yeast die-off. Anyone else heard of or done this? Thanks!

The first 3 days were hell... I was all Neuroy. muscle twitching, pins and needles, feeling of feather on my face etc. It really felt like a lyme herx but to my knowlege I was not re-bitten and have been pretty much symptom free for a month+.
I had to stop the Nystanin for a few days and re-start. Second time around was not as bad.
I would say start slow and give your body time to flush out the toxins produced by the die off.
My LLMD recommended Activate Charchol, Sarspirilla (sp) and increase in fiber to help absorb the toxins.
It really makes me wonder how one tells the difference between yeast and lyme when the two share so many of the same symptoms.
