Yes you can...so use them sparingly. You will get gas/bloating if you take too much and you can get a yeast infection (rarely) from s.boulardii.

my doc told me NO. The truth is, you're not really taking that much even with your double dosing . I take at least 4 of Nutrition Now's PB8 per day.. you really need of a lot of good bacteria in you system to keep bad bacteria from taking over.

Our LLMD has my daughter taking "4" acidophilus a day... He said it can cause no harm.

I started off taking a 7-strain, 20 Billion probiotic twice a day (recommended once a day on package) and 2 DanActives a day. I became incredibly constipated with hemroids. Doc said probably probiotic, so I reduced to just one pill/day until I got back into balance, but much more than that and that symptom starts up again.

Most of what you guys are describing are low quality probiotics (PB8 etc.) try something like VSL # 3 with 450 million and clinically tested for potency along with Florastor (also put to the test) instead of anything off the shelf with who knows where it has been or how it has been stored and guessing. You definitely can take too many probiotics and you can get diarrhea or constipation, gas, bloating, nausea, and a rarely a super-infection that happens when beneficial yeast take over.

Stay on normal doses and you should be ok. 2 Culturelle per day is normal. [Smile]
