Well, we got our test results on Wednesday... my fella's test (Bob) was:
IgM - IGENEX & CDC Neg
31 ind
39 ind
41 +
66 +

IgG - Igenex - positive & CDC - negative
31 ++
34 ind
41 +

Mine were:
IgM - Igenex & CDC - negative
31 ind
34 ind
39 ind
41 +++
83-93 ind

IgG - Igenex & CDC - negative
41 ind

Dr. considers us "clinicaly" positive and wants us to do abx and retest in 6 weeks.

We were both given:
Doxycycline 100mg - 1 twice daily for 2 weeks then 2 twice daily
Ceftin 500 mg - 1 twice a day
Flagyl 500 mg - 1 twice a day for 3 weeks then off 3 weeks and repeat
Nystatin tabs 500,000 units - 1 @ 3 times a day
Low-dose Naltrexone - 3mg one time at night

So my question is, before I start these abx:

Should I start these together all at once?
Can you take these together or at seperate times?

Would it be better to start with one, see how you do (reactions), then add the next?
Which to start with?

Anything I need to be careful with with my herbs and supplements? I'm doing Buhner's herbs + some others... can list if you want them...

Someone else had started a thread on scheduling and that I was curious about also. Are there herbs and such that need to be separated?

Thanks fellow "persons with Lyme"! [dizzy] Just trying to be somewhat PC???!!!

Got to run off tonight - have an early morning tomorrow as we are heading to an ARE (Edgar Cayce group) conference on Medical Intuition in Memphis.

Thanks for the help - I'm not going to start any of them till at least Sunday or Monday or later...

I'll check in Sunday morning.
Thanks again,
TnFC (& Bob)

You could call the pharmacist and ask all your questions. They would be able to tell you a lot. They are very helpful. [Smile]

I'm sorry but I am no longer accepting any private messages due to my own battle with lyme.

I think it is better to start meds separately in case there is a reaction.

Regarding Doxy, make sure you don't have any dairy, magnesium, or iron within two hours of taking it or it will not be absorbed properly. Eat something substantial and non-dairy before taking it or you may get very nauseous. Avoid the sun. You can get a severe burn in minutes even when wearing sunscreen. Do not lay down for at least an hour after taking it or it can ulcerate your esophagus (very painful!). Drink a full glass of water with it for the same reason.

Regarding Flagyl, make sure you avoid alcohol while taking it (including mouthwash etc.) or it can make you very sick.

Low Dose Naltrexone is for immune system funcion. In some people, it can cause insomnia which may last a couple of weeks.

Make sure you both take high-quality acidophilus at least two hours apart from your antibiotics.

If you have not done so, you may want to read Dr. B's treatment guidelines at http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/B_guidelines_12_17_08.pdf

Good luck with your treatment to both of you.

I've taken Doxy, Flagyl, Nystatin in combo. My LLMD *always* does one med start at a time. Flagyl causes me incredible gastro distress. Differentiating between side effects and symptoms can also sometimes be a challenge. Good luck.

Lyme, Bart, possible Babs
Currently on IV Doxy, Bactrim, Zithromax, Nystatin, Mepron
Been on nearly every antibiotic since 10/09

About 60% improvement. Dizziness, air hunger remain.
