Has anyone else here ever gotten spring allergy shots using immunotherepy? This is where they inject you will the things you are allergic to and over time your body adjusts.
I was thinking about that and my symptoms started some time around when I started immunotherepy for spring allergies. I'm not sure, but I think it was after I started the shots. I wonder if maybe this could have activated my immune system to respond differently since it was constantly being injected with something it was allergic too. I wonder if this could have activated an immune response the the lyme, which apparently %40 of people have in them, most without symptoms. This is just an idea, I'm not saying I believe this. So please tell me if anyone else got these type of shots.
Thanks.

I know 4 people who have had allergy shots and do not have Lyme disease (they are not sick either).
Two of the people got the shots because they were specifically allergic to animal dander but loved animals and wanted to have pets. They both finished the treatment series and are able to keep dogs in their homes.
One friend and my sister took the shots for treatment of environmental allergies (pollens, dusts, molds). Sister still has seasonal and environmental allergies but they are easily controlled with OTC antihistamines.

- What was in your shots? Do you have a list of every single ingredient? Often there is mercury or other chemical preservatives. If you do not have the list from when you asked before you got these shots, you can still ask the doctor for a list.
It would be interesting to see.
Lyme creates all sorts of problems and, often, some allergy shots are not designed for someone with all that going on - nor will they likely address what you need because your body is too busy dealing with lyme.
Discuss this your LLMD, of course, as that detail might be helpful to your treatment path. You might also ask if they can refer you to a LL ND (naturopathic doctor) or a LL L.Ac. (acupuncturist) to help with support matters.
To help lessen allergic reactions, Stinging Nettle and Quercetin go a very long way in helping me. -

I have been getting allergy shots before Lyme and During Lyme treatment. I have had NO problems whatsoever! NONE!
If anything, It is a benefit to you because your body isn't fighting allergins which have alot of annoying symptoms that can last a while.
I take shots for dog, cat,MOlds, dust mites, grass and dander
hope this helps!

Your allergist will mix up the serum for your allergy shots based on your particular needs. The vials only last a couple weeks because they do not have preservatives in them.

Interesting idea. I think there could be something to it, in that if you had Lyme already, the allergy shots further taxed your immune system.
Although I haven't seen it, personally - I have 2 family members who've had allergy shots - tree pollens, grass, mold, dogs, cat, horse - and neither of those family members have Lyme.
And I know many people currently getting shots - too many to count at this point, since I take someone to the allergist office twice a week, and meet people each week. All seem healthy - with the exception of allergic asthma, which is often treated with allergy shots.
I do have Lyme, and have never had an allergy shot - but I did have healthy periods after being infected 20+ years ago... and the "sick" times were usually precedented by some type of stress on the immune system.
