May be a silly question, but... if you're not supposed to have any alcohol on Tindamax or Flagyl, can you cook with wine or beer? I have a short-rib recipe that calls for a bottle of dark ale, am I going to get myself sick by adding the beer? [bonk]

The alcohol usually cooks out. But, I'd not take ANY changes when on Tindamax or Flagyl.

Ale and Beer contains gluten, usually. Even in cooking, the added sulfites of wine can cause some excitatory symtpoms for some of us.

Be mindful of the sugar content regarding the amount, and calories.

I call barely tell the difference when leaving beer out of a recipe. Spices, and other seasonings (onion, garlic, shallots) can be adjusted for added depth of flavor.

A dash of wine in cooking, however, I've never found a substitute for that. But fresh rosemary and thyme are a huge help.

Well, I am miles from all the answers. If that were the case, I'd be miles from my computer, for sure. Others may come along and say it's fine. And, most likely, it is.

I have had discussions with some friends about both beer and wine in different versions of their lamb stews. Even in cooking, reactions came from gluten or sulfites, and they just kept telling me "well, the alcohol cooked out."

For your barbeque, there MAY be some sort of solids that carry an alcohol signature of sorts. I can't say for sure. Likely not. But when on Tindamax or Flagyl - I just would not take chances until you can be sure about what is left after heat regarding how the body recognizes alcohol.

Gluten never cooks out, though and since many of us are gluten-free, that is a consideration.
