Has anyone been on this, under the care of the doc. himself? Would love to hear your feedback. Thanks

I saw him for one consult and phone follow-ups along the way, my ND (naturopathic doctor) worked with me locally for in-person care with acupuncture, etc. Dr. Z was always available to either one of us for questions.

I saw excellent improvement when I did this for a couple months, a couple of different times.

Seizures nearly disappeared and hyperacusis went down some in degree. Brain fog was a bit better and pain was decreased.

For me, though, allicin increased tinnitus to nearly unbearable levels. Dr. Z has not heard of this happening for others, though. I had to stop, but mostly for practical reasons. Wish I had known about it early on when I had some money. It's very reasonable, all things considered and top quality. I'm very impressed.

I tried to find less expensive versions and could never even come close to the quality of the combined formulas that had been very carefully put together. I was not on it long enough either time, but it was the best I could do. I needed longer as symptoms soon returned after stopping it, both times.

If you do this, I suggest being sure you can do the full protocol, as intended. Some do take some of the supplements as adjunct but, if you are looking for a full effect, it's best to stick to the plan. There is room for individual adjustment, still.

You may have already read the book and seen the site. If not, see link below. Lots of questions answered there.

I used it twice and each time had the telephone conference call with him. It may be ok for lyme but does not work for bartonella. I used up to 20 HH capsules a day and relapsed completely. It is extremely expensive.

I suggest you do abx first. Then if you have to use herbs because you cannot tolerate abx, try Buhner's recommendations as they are much cheaper and he is not making money off of you.

I used the Zhang lyme protocol for 8 months and then did HH for another 8 months. Both time I previously did abx, and was much better, feeling the herbs would get me by. Not so. I am back on abx.

My family has been taking Antibiotics and Dr. Z and HumaWorm for a year. In combination, they work for us.

Dr. Z's HH is powerful and nasty! The taste! I have chills just to think of HH and Allcin. I am eating three cloves of fresh garlic instead of the allicin pill right now.

Take the HH with a lot of food and right before go to bed if you can sleep with a full stomach.

Swallow the HH with cold water, so you won't taste it when it goes down. Then dring a lot of hot water, really hot water to help your stomach disolve it. I am taking a break from HH in Summer time. I don't want to drink hot water now.

And when you burb, keep your mouth open and have couple of deep breath through your mouth. It is gross but it helps. Don't take it during the day. I take all the meds at night (whole day's amount) and pass out. I take probiotics in the morning.

Over the past year, I have tried three ways: (1) Antibiotics with Dr. Z (2) Antibiotics alone (3) Dr. Z alone

Option (1) works the best.

I feel I am growing younger while on medicines and on healthy diet.

But I also notice that I can not stop the medicines, at least for another couple of years.

I figured that it took 40 years to accumulate all kinds of pathogens and health problems inside my body, it is fair to expect 4 years to get rid of most of the bugs.

I must be the only one who LIKED the HH taste. (As my ND said it would be okay), I'd even open that up in my mouth. I loved the smell, too.

I also found it very helpful and had no harsh effects, it seemed to really nourish my cells and I felt that support.

Funny how different people have different experiences. I know others have expressed the same thoughts as LittleBite. I just found it really wonderful.

I forgot to mention in post above that antibiotics are frequently a part of this. Many need that with it. And many LLMDs are familiar with this, too. It's best to have guidance of a LLMD closer to you. The two could work together for you, of course.

I would have loved to stay on the Z protocol, but my hubby couldn't abide the smell of garlic. The garlic is very effective at crossing the Blood-brain barrier, and I didn't mind it at all!

I had a hard time too with the taste of the HH.

I was two years on 15 HH, also on 5-6 artemisia, 6 coptis, 6 gall 1, did not tolerate AI and the one which opens the blood vessels.
Was on maximum dose of allicin.
Tried RO 5081 which made me horribly sick for months.
Was on monthly consult with Dr. Z.

I survived, but did not get better. After I took coptis it got worse as coptis might work as
efflux pump for chlamydia pneumonia. Not sure about this.

Did a lot better after started doxicycline.
I like Dr. Z products, but for me it was a waste of time.

I use biopure freeze dried garlic. I love it.

It has def helped me.

My biggest question on it is "does it cross BBB"

buhner says no
others say yes

In Zhang's book, it is explained that, due to the molecular weight of the allicin he recommends, it is able to cross the BBB. ( http://tinyurl.com/5drx94 )

Still, that is not the sole determining factor in overall effectiveness of a combined protocol. Many patients require antibiotics and support measures. No two patients have exactly the same mix or react to supplements or Rx exactly the same.
