I tested IGG month's ago for echlichiosis...OK treated with doxy...
Tested again a few months later..everything NEG
tested last week but IGM was positive for echlichiosis but showed nothing for IGG?
asked if I had a new bite? Don't think so?
So what happened to the 1st IGG positive on this round of tests? Shouldn't IGG be present for OLD infection FOREVER? If new bite I understand IGM, but the IGG should still remain from past infection?? RIGHT?

I would trust the IgM. It is supposedly constantly expressed on replication.

"With most infections, your immune system first forms IgM antibodies, then in about 2 to 4 weeks, you see IgG antibodies. In some infections, IgG antibodies may be detectable for years.
Because Borrelia burgdorferi is a chronic persistent infection that may last for decades, you would think patients with chronic symptoms would have positive IgG Western blots.
But actually, more IgM blots are positive in chronic borreliosis than IgG. Every time Borrelia burgdorferi reproduces itself, it may stimulate the immune system to form new IgM antibodies.
Some patients have both IgG and IgM blots positive. But if either the IgG or IgM blot is positive, overall it is a positive result."----Dr C of MO.

I'm not sure if the same info applies to ehrlichiosis....but I wouldn't worry about your test results. Just treat until you are symptom free!

Question about IgM/IgG results. I tested IgM negative/IgG positive after longterm chronic Lyme.
If according to the above explanation that chronic cases could be retriggering new IgM responses, then could that mean that I didn't test when the borrelia were reproducing?
Or are our test results all over the map in terms of whether our IgM/IgG tests are positive or negative for chronic infections?

I think they can be all over the map. Sixgoofy is one person I recall who had a positive IgG and her dr said it was not totally unusual.
As Dr C says above, whether it's IgG or IgM, it's still a positive result.

I had a positive IgG but a technically negative IgM. But, I was only one + away from a positive IgM. And I don't mean one band.
I literally mean, if they had found just a little more of one band (aka one more +) then I would have been both IgG and IgM positive.
I've been sick awhile with lyme and got reinfected with co infections 6 months before testing.
