Does anyone have the link where the CDC states there are likely ten times more Lyme cases than reported?
I thought it was on the CDC website, but I cannot find it. Please let me know ASAP if you know where it is. Thanks!

10 is a "rounded" #, Sammi. The CDC is always changing it's mind. It has varied from about 3 to 12 times the "reported" (CDC+) cases.
"Studies from the early 1990s suggested that LD cases were underreported by six to 12-fold in some areas where LD is endemic (2,3); the current degree of underreporting for national data is unknown."
There may be newer statements but I found this by doing a quick google search.
Remember, they are talking about surveillance - not about actual cases.
This from the same publication "Clinicians are reminded that the LD case definition was developed for surveillance purposes and might not be appropriate for clinical management of individual patients (1)."

Thanks to both of you, this is what I am looking for.
"In North America, Lyme disease and endemic relapsing fever pose the greatest threat to human health and have received the most attention of the borrelial diseases. Approximately 14,000 cases of Lyme disease are reported in the United States each year; however, the actual number of cases may be 10-fold higher."
