I feel like I have developed a bladder infection, but I'm on abx. How could this happen?? Could it be yeast in my bladder? Very uncomfortable.

I'm seeing my GP who works closely with my LLMD tomorrow, so I will see what she says, but just curious if anyone else has experienced this.

Could be either one. It's happened to me to have an infection while on abx for Lyme.

The key is... you need different abx.

Which one are you taking?

You can get an infection while on abx. The bacteria causing the UTI might be resistant to the abx you are taking for the lyme.

it has happened to me a few times while on abx.

what abx are you currently on?

could be yeast too..

Maybe it's interstitial cystitis. I had bladder infection symptoms from a anti-parasite med, my urine test was negative, so my llmd said it was probably IC, and gave me DGL Plus from Pure Encapsulations and it worked.

My symptoms were bladder irritation(very uncomfortable)and needing to go frequently. Maybe ask your md if it could be IC.

Take care, diana

Well, I was on doxy and zithro (flagyl for 3 days) up until last week when I saw my LLMD. I had such a hard time the first month of abx, they decided to take me off all abx to detox and get back to my baseline until I see him again in July. However, I was rebitten when I traveled to see him, so I was told to take doxy 400 mg/day for just 10 days. This is what I'm on now..for a few more days...and then I'm taking a break until July 22nd.

Sorry, my reply is confusing! Nothing is simple with this disease. Just doxy 400 mg would've been the simple answer. [Smile]

dogmom2, this is exactly what I have - bladder irritation and needing to go frequently. I have no idea what interstitial cystitis is, but I will ask tomorrow.

what is DGL plus? thank you all for the responses!

IC is diagnosed only through a bladder distention... an outpatient surgical procedure.

www.ichelp.org

www.ic-network.com

"cant" and I both have IC. Lyme can cause it.

Found this on the first site:

so would this be considered a herx or a new lyme symptom that I didn't know I had before abx?

I am wanting to put the blame on the abx right now as they are just wearing me down in every possible way. I felt another yeast infection coming on, so I took diflucan last night and the painful bladder went away...until this afternoon.

Not sure i'm going to be able to sleep with this tonight...

This is what a couple people suggested for a UTI when I posted:

Try some D-mannose! It works really fast and is very effective against bladder infections.

Thanks Haley. Would this be at Whole Foods I wonder? Just wondering how the heck I could've gotten a UTI while on all these abx? Especially since I have probably had one UTI in my life.

I've had a constant sense that I had to pee happen to me on abx. I wasn't sure really what it was either - related to yeast or something else. I saw an LLMD recently who said it was a symptom of my co-infections that would actually get better on zithromax (while other abx might not have killed the co-infection causing the problem). I've been on zithro for a few days now and it is improving. I've had this before, though, and it got better without zithro (I took Cranberry concentrate pills, and Uva Ursi herbal pills). Also, if it's yeast for you, I highly recommend oregano oil capsules, though watch out because they can be a bit hard on the gut. Good luck!

The DGL Plus is a supplement that contains: deglycyrrhizinated licorice, marshmallow root, slippery elm, aloe vera and vit. c.

I hope you got some answers from your doc.

Take care, diana

Yes Jwall.

I believe you can pick it up at most health food stores. I got it at a store called Sprouts.

Thanks for asking lymetoo. [Smile]

My Dr. said I have a raging bladder infection. Odd because today I felt no symptoms of bladder discomfort at all except for an afternoon fever which I always seem to get. She put me on septra (sp)??

I finally found a great GP (takes insurance and works with my LLMD) who said she would rather lose her license and have no $$ before she would give in to the medical board for helping lyme patients. She said she would help "fix" me which is nice to have someone fighting for me for a change. LOVE HER!!!

Thank you all for the input.
