I'm thinking of getting a uterine ablation done this month. I've had my kids and my periods and heavy, intense and very long. I know other people with lyme that have had the procedure and said it was life changing.
Hope it works!

I briefly considered it, but decided did not want to take the risk of a difficult and lengthy recovery. I can live with my periods though and it sounds as if you can't.

Wow, yes - I did get uterine ablation done specifically to reduce symptoms and it worked like a charm for me.
What was happening was that I had untreated babesiosis (I didn't know I had it yet) and would collapse and be bedridden every month during my period.
I would also collapse when I had blood drawn and be bedridden. I felt that if I didn't have a period it might save me from being bedridden for a week out of each month, so I told my ob-gyn that I had heavy periods that were bothering me.
They weren't actually out of the ordinary, but I figured if I told him the real reason I wanted the procedure done he wouldn't do it.
He happily took my word on it and I got the ablation and had my tubes tied in one procedure. I was very fertile and easily conceived my three children, so I was afraid to get pregnant again.
It stopped me from having the collapses! I told my LLMD what I'd done and she scoffed at me. She said that having an ablation wasn't going to help anything. But then again, she didn't believe I had babesiosis, either, until I was almost dead from it and in desperation turned to a different LLMD, who saved my life!
My former LLMD was a good doctor, but dwelled too much on Lyme alone, and did not work on the co-infections effectively, in my opinion.
So, that's my ablation story. It worked very well for me - and having an extremely light period has been wonderful!
