I am comparing my treatment to Burrascano's guidelines and it seems I am missing some steps. Like, I took Amoxicillin in the past but no probenecid...and now I am on Zith and Ceftin but B's guidelines say Zith is not very effective.

I am confused and scared now. I hope I didn't waste 6 months under-treating.

First Symptom 9/09
Multiple docs, negative Labcorp test
LLMD: 1/10
Positive Igenex/CDC test
Treatment 2/10
2/10-8/10 Amox, ceftin, zith, flagyl
Currently: Bicillin, Minocycline, still dealing with severe breathing issues

Yeah, I don't trust Zith's effectiveness as a lyme med. It's good for co's when paired with Mepron.

Biaxin is preferable.

If you're not pleased with progress or with dosing, it may be time to move to a new LLMD.

I had one of the well-known LLMDs in NYC for a while and they did very little for me.

Good luck.

Dr. B's guidelines are good but they are not tailored to the individual like treatment is when you actually go to see an LLMD. Your LLMD may have a reason for prescribing a particular combo that is specific to you. Then again maybe not.

Before giving up on your LLMD so soon, I'd ask him/her to explain their rationale if you haven't already.

Another thing to consider, strains vary. Seems like certain geographical locations may carry different strains. Maybe certain drugs are more effective in one area than they are in another. Just a thought.

I made an appt with the other doc in the office. I was seeing the nurse practitioner because she is more affordable but I made an appt with the original doc I saw first, even though it is more $. I will have to start going into debt I guess.

I think the original doc I went to is more knowledgeable.

I am having an awful day. My symptoms are flaired up and I feel sorry for myself and I feel like dying.
Funny, considering I am starting vacation tomorrow. Maybe the rest will do me some good.

Zith and Ceftin go after two different forms of Lyme.

If you add Plaquenil, the zith works better. It's also a mild cyst buster and antimalarial. You might ask your LLMD about adding it to the mix.
