It's been nearly a month and daily methyl B12 injections (25 mg per 1 cc) made all the difference in the world for me. I would avoid the cyanocobalamin form of B12. I don't think orals will produce pharmacological effects for you, but perhaps they will slowly restore your B12 if it's low. The injections are wonderful, and believe me, I don't like sticking myself. However, it doesn't hurt at all. They really help my nervous system be more balanced, and I feel better. Unlike most, I wouldn't describe myself as having more energy, but feeling more relaxed instead.
For whatever reason, B12 has also made my body detox better than ever as evident by my urine and the way I feel.
My family recognizes the results as well.
However, I may have been more severely deficient than most. Every lunula (including the ones on my thumbs) completely disappeared while I was trying oral. They are now back on my thumbs and starting to make their way back to other fingers as well.
So my opinion:
If you want pharmacological effects from B12 supplementation, sublingual is not the way to go. If you want to correct a deficiency, perhaps sublingual could help, but it really didn't do anything for me.
Good luck.
I also take my B12 with Folate (the active form of folic acid) and P5P (active form of B6) and phosphatidylserine (caution: this combo can cause major die off (viral and bacterial) in some people and many people with CFS). You can add SAMe as well, though I don't take it. I had a die off reaction initially and received my first viruses in years. I take a B-100 complex as well.

My lyme doc said to take as directed on the bottle--whatever bottle you buy, in other words.
The bottle I have at home says one per day.

It doesn't matter, it is water soluable, you urinate out the excess.
My sublingual is 1,000 mg. I did three...one after each meal when I was a little low.
My levels okay now so I just do 1 a day.

My daughter's LLMD wants her to do the injections. She was very resistant for a while so he said to do 5,000 mg of the sublingual instead.

If you have a genetic defect of intrinsic factor in your gut then you will not be able to absorb the cyancolabin(sp) or the methycolabin (sp). You need to test the MMA (Methylmalonic Acid) and homocysteine test as well as a MTHFR gene tests for this. Then you will have to take P5P folinic acid instead of folic acid and hydroxycolabim type of B12.
I am going thru this right now since i just had a massive reaction to methycolabim B12. I have never been able to tolerate Bs so it will be interesting to see what the genetic issue behind this is.
By the way the latest studies from the Pernicious Anemia society is that oral sublinguals actually worked better than shots.
