My new Dr is starting me on wormwood, which I am starting today.

Any new pills make me nervous. I've been off all meds for awhile but am still not 100% so trying a whole new approach to get me over the hump.

Did this help you or have any side effects?

Thanks for any info.....

Just start slow and low, in the middle of a meal and maybe a day when you can stay close to home.

[I had a post with more in it but, thinking back, I think I confused my reaction to black walnut to wormwood. I did to far better with Hepapro's Artemisinin than I did with wormwood, though. And wormwood is not the exact thing if you are dealing with Babesia.]

Good luck.

Thank you Keebler. I'm supposed to take 2 pills 3 times a day.

I am a chicken and took 1/2 a pill in the middle of breakfast and plan to take the other half at dinner.

I have been sweating heavily all day. (which is really odd for me because I almost never sweat).

I also feel hyper.

I think it's going to take me quite some time to work up to that dosage.

You are not chicken, it's wise to start less than a full dose. It could take you two weeks or more to work up that desired dose. Never go higher or more often until you are comfortable with the lower dose. Then gradually increase.

[Unless you are battling a new and acute infection of some kind, of course.]

Do not take the other half with dinner if you feel hyper from it.

Wait till tomorrow - not too late in the day - and take- ONE HALF or less - again in the middle of a meal. Less sounds better.

And it may be you need to stick to that for a while. It may be a different herb or a combination formula would be better. There are other options. Never go higher or more often than feels right.

Have you been diagnosed with babesia? as that might explain this triggering sweating.

Be sure to drink water. Wear cotton. Hope you feel better.

Great point about not taking the other half at dinner.

I'd be up all night. Thank you for pointing that out!

I will definitely hold off until tomorrow.

I haven't been diagnosed with babesia, but that's another great point.

I googled side effects from wormwood and it mentioned sweating.

After all this time, I still wish there were definitive answers......

A frequent editor . . . I just added some other thoughts to my post above at the same time you were typing. Glad I caught you before dinner.

Sweet dreams, later on.

If sweating is excessive: sea salt; some lemon or lime water . . . nutrients in your foods . . . and something like this to have on hand:

Great links! I've never heard of this before. I really hope the sweating doesn't continue.

I wonder if I can find this locally......I will do some checking.

I purposely started today so I'd be off of work and home - just in case of any side effects.

Off the top of my head… wormwood is an anti-parasite herb. If you have parasites, it can make you pretty ill. It may take a while to build up in your system to kill the parasites.

I don't know about everyone but for me, it took a couple of weeks before an herbal anti-parasite combination caused me to start purging large numbers of parasites. It takes a long time to get rid of them, as well. I probably still have them… Everyone is different.

Do you know why you were prescribed this herb? Is it for babesia which is similar in some ways to malaria (a parasite)? Or something else. It's good to spend some time studying things that are prescribed.

Sometimes, it takes a while to work up to the full dosage. It's good to go slow & not push too hard - like Keebler suggested.

I'm taking it for parasites. I'm still taking it very slow.

The sweats are still there, but not nearly as bad and seem to come in waves.

Sunday, I was on the couch, exhausted all day, but each day since has been getting better.

They hyper feeling has calmed to a lot of energy, which is something I haven't had in a long time.

Oh oh, is this stuff strong?

I just bought the TEA of wormwood and prepared it like it was indicated (15 min infusion).

The tea is very bitter, but it was okay.

I drank 2 cups, instead of one. Effect: I had some fog these days, it lifted a bit. Second effect, my sinuses felt funny and some liquid started to run (I do not have a cold for months... so I wonder...).

I feel good, but I wonder if a TEA can have any strong reaction?? I hope not!

I was thinking to try the papaya seeds this weekend, so I will wait then, and go on only on wormwood.

Energetically it tested good, so...

Is the tea MUCH weaker than whatever capsules??

Anyone knows?

I would think the tea is less strong than the capsules. It probably depends on how fresh the herb is. It may also depend on where it comes from, how it's grown, etc. You don't always know.

I took Parastroy for a month (I think it has wormwood in it) & it really wiped me out. I had to stop & I wasn't taking that much. I think I got up to 3 doses of both capsules on a few days (it has 2 different capsules that you take). Mostly, I was only taking 1 dose per day.

I will go back to it but I feel really fatigued (like bone tired) & in more pain than usual. I have to be able to function somewhat. That stuff works...

When I take Wormwood.(artemisinin) it causes me to have a Babesia Herx with hot flashes and sweats. I also get the sensation of water running in the skin of my legs. That lets me know that I still have Babesia and that Wormwood is killing it.

I take capsules. In fact, I make my own capsules with powdered Artemisia. I always take it with a heaping tsp of yogurt because it is somewhat caustic to the stomach lining. When I had parasites, I took a capsule and poured the contents into a cup of hot water, sweetened it and drank a cup on a Saturday and again on Sunday and believe me, it'll put

hair on your chest and make a man of you (even if you're a woman) - the tea is that much of a dose! Believe me - all parasites packed up their little suitcases and left town and I never heard from them again!

It's great against Babesia.

If I understood it well, Artemisia annua is what people use for babesia, but wormwood is Artemisa absynthium.

Aren't they different species??

It certainly is causing me something. I took ARtemisia annua 10 years ago or so, during babs. I really liked it.

It's been long I do not have lyme, but this wormwood tea is causing me something (like clearing brain fog) and cleaning my sinuses (I think I still have an old infection in the bones, from infected tooth).

It also made me feel chilly after taking it, which for me usually is a sign of herx. That was yesterday. Today, I'm on day 2 of the wormwood tea, and I don't see anything special (only that I feel more energetic). I also added cloves, for the taste (as wormwood is too bitter).

I know Art annua was very helpful against babesia, and it was one of my favorite herbs in the past (together with Japanese knotwood and cats claw).

Try cardamon and maybe, noni tincture: I do feel these two things helped me get off babesia too, in combination with artemisa annua. I love cardamon. I also think it knocks some of Borrelia cysts.

Parastroy has too many herbs at once. I usually do not fare well on herbal combinations, UNLESS I tested each of them, one by one. I can't take that risk, as I hate herxes.

I'm not sure I have parasites, but I do think wormwood is knocking a sort of very OLD cheek bone infection. Very old, indeed.

I ate today too a small papaya with the seeds inside. Wow, what a taste! It was better though than wormwood.

The feeling after eating the seeds was AMAZING. It felt like total yin (if you know what I mean, in dr. K's language). I literally felt the energy going down my legs, very very relaxing.

the more yin you are, the best you feel. It is a very grounding feeling, so papaya seeds were nourishing me, I'm sure. Either in energy or in nutrition, or in medicine.

That feeling of yin, I learned to recognize during lyme treatment, using herbs, about 10 years ago.

When the combination of herbs helped me, the feeling was almost like ecstatic. It's the feeling linked to healing, for me. When suddenly, you feel you found the medicine your body was so much in need.

Even if all these stuff won't kill any parasites, I don't mind. Papaya seeds, at least, felt wonderful.

In the package of the wormwood tea, that i bought in an organic shop in Germany, it's said: to open the appetite, or to restore gastro intestinal health.

I can tell you that today, my feeling of hunger changed. I feel more pleasure in eating, that is for sure. In my case, that is good, as I am still suffering from lack of weight.

That was the reason for me to start this anti-parasite experiment...

Thank you guys for the info on wormwood.
