My biggest problem these days is I am extremely weak. I have felt this way before and my iron levels were ok but I still feel like I could be anemic. I have a bottle of "Gentle Iron" and am tempted to take it.

I am on Artimisin, Bactrim and Clindamycin. I don't know anything about taking iron while on these. My next appt. isn't for a few weeks.

I have been treating Lyme and Babesia for almost two years. I am in very little pain these days except my soles and calves started hurting in the mornings lately so maybe Bartonella coming out?

Any advice as to what should I could look into to get more energy?

I could be wrong but I believe Babesia can cause anemia. I take 1 pill of Gentle Iron Daily. Soles of feet does sound like Bart.

Good luck

I wouldn't take iron unless you've have a CBC (complete blood count) and ferritin level run. If there is a need for iron supplementation based on those test results, then take iron.

Otherwise, allow your doctor to help you figure out why you are so fatigued....whether it is infection based or some other cause.

Best, Timaca

If you know your iron in low, you could take Floradix. It is a liquid iron that is not constipating and it has B12 in it as well that may give you more energy. It helps my sister a lot.

You can find it in any health food store. One has herbs and the other does not. I think my sister takes the one with the herbs.

You could try 1 tablespoon daily of Black strap molasses, that's what my ND recommended for iron supplementation. It also has b vitamins and calcium.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Over the phone my doc thinks it is the infections and maybe a herx.
But I am going to go in and get blood work next week.

Sammy, is black strap molasses only in health stores?

I bought a bottle from the health food store but have since seen it in the regular grocery store. It only costs about $3, you will find it in the baking aisle (usually used to flavor gingerbread cookies).

It is strong tasting but not bad. It does not cause constipation so this is the only form of iron supplementation that I can take.
