I am thinking of trying this to combat depression. I would like to know if anyone has experience taking it. Did it work ? Did it cause a flare? Wierd symptoms? How much to take? What brand is best? I have read that it has other beneficial properties, did anyone have any positive changes and how long before they noticed.

I've been taking it for about 3 years. I love it and recommend it to many people. My cousin, my sister-in-law, and two of my good friends are all taking it now and they love it too.
I take Nature Made SAM-e and take 400 mg. first thing in the morning.
When I started taking it, I took 200 mg. for the first week and felt very tired by noon and took a few naps that week. The next week I hopped up to 400 mg. and felt great from the get go.
The way i understand it, SAM-e helps the body absorb vit. B, which is a mood stabilizer and raises you energy, so I take a B Complex supplement too.
I have a book, "SAM-e" by Richard Brown, MD, that I found very helpful in the beginning and answered many of my questions. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll gladly look them up.

My LLMD actually prescribed SAMe for me when I was in treatment. I can't tell you how it effected me directly because it was just one of many supplements.

I just started taking this also. It is one of the supps that Dr. Burr. lists in his protocol. He says to help with neurological symptoms, take SAM-e in conjuction with Acetyl-L-Carnitine. He suggests 1500-2000 mg ALC and 400 mg SAM-e per day on empty stomach.
