I have 2 cycles of treatment (3 weeks on, 1 week off). I was feeling great during my 2'nd cycle. I had my lab work done during my week
off and my liver was elevated and wbc at 2.6,
lowest it been. I had a redo of lab this week,
liver was better, still a little elevated but
going down, wbc was down to 2.5. In the mean
time my Lyme symptoms are re-emerging .. I
thought I had this thing whooped! I've only been
sick since summer. LLMD doesnt
want to start back with treatment until wbc is
back above 3. She refered me to a Hematolgist.
My question is what will a Hematolgist do? What
is he looking for? If I know I have Lyme why do
I need to go to one? Thanks for the help.

- What will a Hematologist do? Study your blood.
What is he looking for? Anything out of the ordinary but, not necessary for infections as much as deficiency of function, etc. ----------
Your LLMD thinks this is important. Yes, you need to do this. Lyme is not everything, by any means. You are really very fortunate that your LLMD has referred you to figure out the big picture. You have to go get those keys before all the doors can be unlocked.
Since your LLMD referred you to a specific hematologist, that is good. I would go to that one, for sure. -
