After reading about ehrlichia in "The Lyme Disease Solution", I am terrified. The bottom of page 77 and top of page 78 says, "These infections when acute are very serious illnesses and may be life-threatening and required prompt medical attention."

I also tested positive for babesia. My LLMD is treating it first, which could take months. I asked if we could treat both at once, but he said doxy could lessen the effects of Mepron.

I also need H. pylori treatment, which will probably include amoxy. I am already taking Mepron, Biaxin, plaquenil, and omeprazole. LLMD is not in today, so I don't know if I can add amoxy to the current mix. Does anyone know?

OMG! I am so scared because my last LLMD only treated me with one abx at a time and no co-infections. PCP started doxy 6 weeks after my bite, but when I got to LLMD, he discontinued it and started Biaxin...now I have ehrlichia. I am so frustrated and really scared.

Sorry for such a long post..I am freaking out here.

If the infections are life-thretening, I think you "know." Like you are in the hospital, hooked up to all kinds of things, etc. I don't think someone just drops dead. I think you see it coming, and you are very ill...high fevers (like 103) etc.

Also, I would think it would be most life-threatening right after being infected.

I wouldn't worry so much about dying. At this point, the infections are probably in the "chronic" stage, not "acute." Just worry about getting better!
