I wanted to try the 7 day tissue cleanse thru bowel management. It's a book by Bernard Jensen and I know someone who did the cleanse who had positive results, but I see so many negative comments by others (in different internet articles) about how unsafe fasting and enemas are.
My homeopathic doctor also thinks it would disturb things, but I personally think it sounds beneficial.
Any thoughts? I am still awaiting for the doc to return my call for an interpretation on my results (posted below).
Thanks in advance to anyone who might have helpful info...

I have no experience with fasting but colonics and enemas have been fantastic for me.

- Fasting can be too harsh for many. Hypoglycemia is a concern, and that can be dangerous.
One can cut out lots of ordinary foods and do a very clean diet - with more juicing and fiber - for a week or so and have good results. But depriving the body of food it needs can put one in jeopardy.
I deal with two kinds of genetic porphyria. With that, fasting can cause the liver more stress. Lyme patients often have some of the same issues with the liver detox pathway, Cytochrome P-450 being inefficient due to the liver's inability to make certain key enzymes (that are only produced by the liver - not available as supplements).
Well, when the C P-450 liver pathway is not working well, excess porphyrins can damage and even kill cells in the body. Porphyrins are a sort of metabolic waste product. Everyone has a certain amount.
But, when that amount exceeds what the liver can manage, it can become dangerous, even fatal for those with genetic porphyria - often which is undiagnosed.
Fasting increases the porphyrin level. Those with such issues should not fast. A modified juice fast, with frequent fresh beta carotene from carrots and greens might work - but a true fast can be very dangerous. Even a modified fast for a couple days can rob you of key nutrients and put tremendous stress on a body that already has too much stress.
There are many ways to get excellent nutrition with good food- and have your body be happy. With the right foods, your colon should be working fine.
Now and then, a colonic or colema may be of help regarding a cleanse to address parasites. There are many ways to address parasites, though.
Generally, it's best to not mess with the sphincter too many times or it could lose its ability to keep stuff in its place, so to speak. A little help now and then may be beneficial as long as the general principles of quality food intake is good. Generally, the body has a perfected designed system, moving food through from above. High fiber can work wonders.
Rhubarb, too, in a herbal formula. It helps the sphincter maintain tone while also helping to rid the colon of toxins.
Back to the fasting considerations, be sure to see the "Secondary Porphyria" links here: -----------------

I should have clarified..the fast is a fast, yes, but it has supplements and juice and fiber drinks involved. So, more like a liquid and supplement fast, the supplements are considered food because they are things like chlorella and alfalfa and dulse tabs.
My food intake is great, i just want a quick boost to get me even more on the right track as I have been slacking lately in the diet dept. definitely not looking to do colon cleanses on a regular basis as i do understand the hidden dangers.
Thanks for the input yall!
